Bible Passages About Fetus / Baby

For you winning an argument is more important than what's true. You may not want a fetus to be a human child but that doesn't make it so.
Not so. In fact one has to show that one is correct to win. It appears that you do not care about being correct or not. You only care about your unsupported beliefs.

I've stated from the beginning that a fetus is a human child, you don't want that to be true, so you convert it to a "belief". Thats just 1 half of your brain lying to the other half and the other half believes it!

That makes zero sense.

Your reasoning is that because the verse says God knows someone in the womb, that means they're morally equivalent to a born person. But God, per the traditional understanding, knows all things. God knows people before they're conceived even. So does that mean they have moral equivalence to a born person even before conception, because God knew them then? If the answer is no, then the fact that God knows them in the womb is irrelevant to whether they're considered morally equal to a person while in the womb.

Sorry, but you are trying to use silly word games again. When it comes to what makes a child a "child" a fetus is missing many of those attributes.

If we go back into time, to the ancient world, before there was modern science, most of what happened inside the womb was a mystery. People understood how sex would and could lead to pregnancy. However, there was a gap in understanding after conception, since the forming child was in the darkness of the womb and tampering in the darkness, could end the child development. Getting hit while pregnant, could have an impact on the end result, so there were rules about tampering.

Once a child was born, the phenomena of life was in the light of observation and easier to see and understand further patterns of development. The tradition that that life appears at birth, is a very old wife's tale, due to lack of scientific understanding in ancient times. If you cannot see it or understand it; like it used to be with germs, it is not there. The ancients did not have the modern tools that now allows us to observe without tampering; ultrasound.

Modern Science, which is secular, defines life in a more complete way with fetal development part of life;

Life is defined as any system capable of performing functions such as eating, metabolizing, excreting, breathing, moving, growing, reproducing, and responding to external stimuli.

The forming unborn are alive, by this definition, since most of the criteria for life apply to the unborn, at various levels, since life is evident down to its single cells. The unborn eat, kick and will respond to medical tools trying to get them. A female will start producing eggs 9 weeks after conception. Technicality, the capacity to reproduce an entire human starts at 9 weeks.

The abortionists are attempting to impose an old religious superstition onto modern society, using a conventions from a time when science was not yet developed enough to define life in science terms. This is no different from modern science saying the earth is round, by observation data, but some wish to think it is flat. The Left is in the dark for one of the third phases; conception, development, and birth, and use a flatliner approach; conception,???, birth or conception,???, abortion; 2-D instead of 3-D.

The government needs to stay out of this, since it cannot impose an old superstition religion. The Left has a right to their superstition; religious freedom, but we need to teach science in school. Science also needs to speak up and not bow down out of fear to these religious fanatic, who impose scientific misinformation.

Nope, the question was never "Is it alive or not", the question is " Is it a person or not?"

This is not a left or right issue. It only became one because of the immoral course the Republican party took when they adopted the Southern Strategy.

Let this thread be a place to collect every passage
anyone can find that could shed light on whether or
not a fetus is the same as a baby.

We need only one: "We were made in God's image" and then a scientific question's response: WHEN IS A HUMAN MADE?

A BLASTOCYST is the same as a baby or an adult!

Is it? You could test the DNA of various blastocysts and confirm whether they are human or not, but that is not the question. That means that you just used a strawman argument.

Yes, but this is not the Eros forum.
That's not what it means either in that context.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

What does it mean that God knew Jeremiah before even one of his cells were formed?

The Hebrew word for know is yada (יָדַע).

As in English, yada has a wide range of meanings from knowing someone intimately to knowing about them; from knowing how to do something to perceiving, learning, and experiencing something.

Yada appears 947 times in the Hebrew Scriptures, but we’ll focus here on what God knows about us and what it could mean that He even knew us before He knit us in our womb.

In Scripture, we see that God has intimate knowledge of us at the depth of our character and soul:

  • He knows the hearts of all men (1 Kings 8:39; 2 Chronicles 6:30), those who are His servants (2 Samuel 7:20; Nahum 1:7; 1 Chronicles 17:18) and those who are false, vain, and deceitful (Job 11:11).
  • He keeps the lowly close to His thoughts, but only knows the haughty from afar (Psalm 138:6).
  • He knows our words before they are spoken (Psalm 139:4) and the distresses of our lives (Psalm 31:7).
And He knows you, “Even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30)
And in the context it also means " chosen."
