Biden Expected to Sign Executive Order Restricting Asylum

This seems like a good thread for this.....

Robbery suspect who shot two police officers with an illegal gun is an undocumented migrant from Venezuela who entered illegally.

take away the guns

'Six minutes and twenty seconds': Emma Gonzalez delivers speech at Washington march

You are preaching to the wrong person.
I blame the person(people), not the gun.

Angry White American Man

He was 46 years old, he had 2 parking places
He got angry if one of the residents took one of the visitor spaces
In the apartment complex that might provide one little clue
That this middle-aged man had accomplished little that he set out to do

He spewed anger at all of his neighbors and he hated religion so much
Maybe that’s why he moved to the Bible Belt, because hatred is such a good crutch
He spewed anger about all religions with his back against the wall
Why stop at just hating one of them when you can just hate them all

Another angry white American man with a gun
Another angry white American man

He was 46 years old, he didn’t live among his peers
Neighbors mostly younger by about 24 years
Neighbors from all over, some in religious dress
But what in hell the man was thinking, we can only try to guess

Chorus

He was 46 years old, his neighbors had a meeting last year
To talk over what they might do about this man they feared
He carried a loaded pistol, no telling what might inspire
Him to pull it out one day and fire, fire, fire

Chorus

There ya go! If there are so many crossing that seeking asylum can't even be done right at a checkpoint, we have a border crisis.
That's why there was a bipartisan bill that Biden was ready to sign, but Trump got MAGAs in congress to sabotage it. So Biden is doing what he can to deal with the crisis.

If they can travel through multiple countries, they certainly can find a proper checkpoint.
So migrants are 5 miles from the border where it can be crossed into the hands of the border patrol, but you suggest they walk another 200 miles to a checkpoint?

That's republican advice for you.

Venezuela is a part of Gran Colombia. They have a common history.

Venezuela accepted a lot of refugees from Colombia over the years.

Welcoming the Stranger is what Catholicism is all about, from a historical point of view.

Wars were fought over this issue centuries ago.

I used to live in Texas, and it's ridiculous the amount of paperwork and time and money it often takes to move here from another country legally.

For instance, my daughter in law is Korean. She MARRIED a US citizen, and still it took her nearly ten years to become a US citizen.

This goes back five centuries here in America, back to the conquista.

When my wife’s ancestors first started running away from their masters some 500 years ago, they were called “cimarrones”.

What exactly are you referring to by "cimarrones"?

Can you not answer?

I did. And you read the article, right? Have you ever heard me mention history and anthropology?

Here’s an old Cumbia about it.

A La Mina No Voy (2014) - Traditional Colombian Folksong

A portrait of Afro-Colombian life, 'A La Mina No Voy' (I am not going to the mine), is a Colombian folksong that was sung by slaves resisting work in the mines.

arrangement and violin, Aron Frank voice, Teófilo Potes (Buenaventura, Colombia) ( voice taken from 'Afro-Hispanic Music from Western Colombia and Ecuador' // recorded and edited by Norman E. Whitten, Jr. // Folkway Records, Album No. FE4376, ©1967. )

Manque (aunque) mi amo me mate/ Although my master would kill me
A la mina no voy/ I am not going to the mine
No quiero morir/ I don't want to die
De un canalón/ In the waterway (of gold placering)
A la mina no voy/ I am not going to the mine
Mi amo pegado, yo lo digo/ My master punishes, I say it
Con justícia y con grador/ With justice and with willingness
A la mina no voy/ I am not going to the mine
Que a lo' hombres no 'e venden/ Don't sell the men
Porque tienen corazón/ Because they have courage
A la mina no voy/ I am not going to the mine
Manque (aunque) mi amo me mate/
Although my master would kill me
A la mina no voy/ I am not going to the mine

You said "This goes back five centuries here in America"

I wanted you to clarify. America or America's?
There is a difference.

I say let whoever wants in. Earths time is short imo. To bad world leaders like Netanyahu, Putin, etc. don’t know that. What a sad thing for someone with wisdom to witness.
