Obamacare was rushed in, the nice stuff came first, the more painful pushed till after elections, and now?
What have we got? Bill Clinton bemoaning it on the campaign trail.

And oh by the way.... ObamaCare promised NO ONE would have to pay for an abortion though taxes or otherwise in violation of conscience and now the DNC platform has a goal to drop tax restrictions funding abortions,

Before commenting, I would love to see the full statement he made and the context. It is cut up perfectly and I am suspicious.

Taking his comment figuratively, as he intended it, I basically agree. I would say that in other ways the ACA is a "crazy system". I would also agree with the DC district court that the way insurance companies have been reimbursed under Section 1402 these past couple of years is unconstitutional. See: http://www.religiousforums.com/thre...-on-houses-challenge-to-aca-provision.187279/

And I am glad to hear that the husband of our next President might dissuade the next President from trying to salvage the "crazy system".

Don't need to see the comment to know it is a crazy system. It was rushed and republicans have blocked efforts to try and fix it. I am not sure if it can be fixed or needs to be replaced with some thing else but I am sure Health care for everyone should be the american standard.

Obama care has been a disaster for me. November my rates are going to go way up, so I will just have to drop it. So I agree with Bill.

Just a reminder that before the ACA was passed, our medical inflation rate over the previous 10 years was a bit over 9% per year (the national overall rate doubled in 11 years), and now it's down to around 7% which, granted, ain't a whole lot of improvement. The problem isn't Obamacare-- it's the fact that we are the only country in the world that uses a for-profit health-care system. All those medical ads you see on t.v., who pays for that in the long run? We pay 17% of GDP for healthcare, and the next highest is at 12% but with universal coverage.

I don't think it's any secret that Obama & Co. actually preferred using an extension of Medicare, which would have been much more efficient, but there wasn't a chance to get that passed.

ACA sucks, but not as much as what went before. It will, inevitably, lead to a rational single payer system.

That's pretty much how I see it. The ACA is far from perfect or even ideal, but pre-ACA was just so bad that it should only be considered unethical (The ACA should probably also be considered unethical given it still puts profit over health care, but at least a ton of people did get insurance out of it).

Single payer was too big a step to sell to the congress for both Hillary (back in the day) and Obama. A middle ground that would, in time, droop towards collapse was what was needed ... and was what we got. Everyone will have Medicare in the near future, with premium insurances available for fo-fo medicine available on top.

Quick question. How does a health care plan promise anything?

And while I don't know the context of the quote, of course the health care bill isn't perfect. Anyone who expects a massive bill affecting tens of millions of people to be right the first time is out of their mind. It is normal to make adjustments after the fact. The only reason issues haven't been addressed is congress and their refusal to work with Obama on much of anything.

I agree that it's a crazy system. Single-payer, government-run health insurance would make way more sense if it could have passed, but I don't think it's politically viable right now. Hopefully someday it is.

Bill is right. He's referring to the subsidy system. At a certain income level, there are no subsidies. Which there were none before anyways. But the wealthy have had their rates increased by these private insurance companies to cover the people with pre-existing conditions that are now allowed to qualify for health care.

It's the same reason certain insurance companies are leaving the exchange, citing cost reasons. It's not cheap to cover people with pre-existing conditions, that's the only reason republicans are against Obamacare. It's not government run healthcare. Republicans believe people with pre-existing conditions should NOT be able to get healthcare. We feel differently.

I could care less about the greedy corporations putting profit over people.
