Which I believe to be true.To assume that police, on average, are not racist, is to assume that they are less racist than the general population.
Police are chosen and trained to do a job well. This doesn't mean that there are no racist cops. Only that they are less irrationally racist than the general population, including the black population.
Maybe this is a function of Affirmative Action.A study showed, for example, that if you send out identical resumes with one group having culturally white names and the other group having culturally black names, the black name resumes get significantly fewer call backs. Literally the only difference is the name.
Suppose you are an owner or human resources director. You have a position to fill, and your job is to find the best applicant and hire them.
You get a bunch of applications. The two best are nearly identical. Both guys, comparable GPAs from comparable colleges, comparable extracurricular achievement, etc. They are nearly identical. One is white and one is black. You want the smartest, hardest working one.
Who would you pick? The one who had Affirmative Action working for him or the one who worked against it?
