Well, I don't know where the Satanic Music thread went, so I'm creating a black metal thread here. I'm currently listening to My Dark Desires by Dark Funeral.

I'm not sure if this qualifies,but I saw Black Sabbath before they were famous(if I am way off..put it down to my age :>))

You don't know who the guy is? He is the infamous black metaller Varg Vikernes. For some background, he killed another black metaller, Euronymous. He also collaborated with him in music and church burnings. Varg burned at least three churches. Despite all of this, he actually seems like a fairly nice guy, especially when compared to Euronymous.

I love Black Sabbath, they are my favorite band of all time, but they aren't really black metal. They are heavy metal.

A few recommendations to those new to black metal:

Burzum (Varg's one man band)
Mayhem (Euronymous and Varg were in Mayhem)

That's Varg Vikernes. He's a murderer and a neo-Nazi dumb *** who burnt down some old Norwegian churches and makes mediocre music. He was a cute fem looking guy when he was younger, though.

As for black metal, I like some of it but it gets boring after a bit. (I much prefer death metal.) My favorite black metal band is Wolves in the Throne Room. Temple of Baal, Glorior Belli, Dissection and Behemoth are good, too. I also like blackened death metal and blackened crust.

Yep. Obviously you have a lot of reason to hate him as a Catholic but he also defiles Heathenry with his actions and his white supremacist views. I actually do like his musical style and aesthetic for the most part but he basically personifies literally everything wrong with (certain parts of) the Norse/Germanic pagan community.

Anyways I like black metal but don't listen to it very much. Bergtatt by Ulver is a great great album.

I despise him, regardless of religion. He's just complete garbage. His music sucks, his ideology is completely stupid and he is defiling the religion of his (and my) ancestors. He is an embarrassment to humanity.

I'm serious about his music sucking, too. I tried to get into Burzum, but failed. I enjoy ambient black metal but bands like Wolves in the Throne Room do it tons better. Wolves' music is achingly beautiful and great for meditation or solitary nighttime walks among trees or in some woods. Plus, it has the bonus of not being tied to ideological imbecility.

The murder might have started defensively (which would make it manslaughter I guess?). But he's still a white supremacist and iirc was planning terrorism a couple years ago. If you're an awful person, having a friendly demeanor doesn't make you good.

Anyways, I just got Nattens madrigal on cassette today so that's pretty cool.

Loved Alcest's album Ecailles de lune; sadly they've kinda turned into Coldplay with tremolo picking. Agalloch are pretty cool too, tho I don't think their metal cred really gets questioned that much (hope not).
