Boss of National Enquirer given immunity for testimony:

That tells us that his current statements are a lie, that his past statements are a lie. That he broke campaign financing laws.

It is amazing that Trump fan boys have so much trouble understanding the consequences of Trump's actions.

Amazing? What is amazing is that they voted for him. The rest IMO just follows from that grave error in judgment. To see in a narcissistic, spoiled rich kid who stiffs his contractors, brags about sexual assault and repeats tabloid lies someone who can make this country a better place has already gone of the tracks of good judgment long, long ago.

Does you religion, Buddhistic Panenthetic Jesusonian, tell you that it is permissible for a President to lie to the public?

Does you religion, Buddhistic Panenthetic Jesusonian, tell you that you should respect a President who lies to the public?

Does your own sense of morality tell you that you should defend liars?

To me this is more to the point, given we already knew from Trumps behavior before the election, how could anyone stand for him to be the president? Every rational basis for arguing that choice was probably easily countered by known facts at the time.

The only reasons are those which no one would reasonably argue publicly. To accept such a shameful person as a representative there must be some deeply held but shameful attitudes his supporters have.

  1. There is a misdeed.
  2. There are lies denying the misdeed.
  3. There are attempts to cover up the misdeed and the lies.
With Nixon we had all three. With Clinton, if memory serves, we had only 1 & 2.

With Trump
  1. There are misdeeds - plural.
  2. There are lies denying the misdeeds.
  3. There are attempts to cover up the misdeeds and the lies.
Michael Flynn met with the Russians to tell them Trump would ease sanctions. When questioned, Flynn lied. Trump tried to cover up by, among other things, having Pence assure people Flynn did nothing wrong.

Trump had extramarital affairs. When asked about it, Trump lied. Payments were made to women to cover up the affairs and the lies.

Trump's son and others had a meeting with a Russian regarding "dirt" on Hillary. Trump's son and others lied about it. Trump tried to cover it up by dictating a letter for his son to release. After the son released the adoption scenario, Trump lied about it.

If you do not see a pattern here, you are indeed a sheeple.

Sorry, he lied under oath and if you lower your standards to what school children thought then you really have set amazingly low and unreliable ones. He was impeached, but the Senate did not find that what he did rose to the level of being tossed out of office. They could not even get all of the Republicans on board. If Trump was impeached today I am sure that the results would be very similar. What he has done was illegal. Did it rise to the level of an impeachable offense? I don't think so. But the investigation is still young. It takes a while to unravel problems such as this.

But given Trump abysmal leadership skills and his offensive moral attitudes, I would think that impeachment would be the out that the Republicans are most wanting. And I wouldn't be too surprised if Republicans ended up introducing that.

We will see what 2018 elections bring...and whether the Republican party can escape the backlash against the xenophobia that is eating slowly away at its heart.

Actually if you guys knew what you were talking about you realize the law also says that a candidate can give as much as their money as they want to their campaigns. So if Trump (or any candidate) gave one dollar more than was paid out there is no violation (not that there was one to begin with). I almost feel sorry for you haters to the point that I find myself hoping you find something substantial to justify your anguish.
If it wasn’t illegal, then why’d he lie about it?

And why are you okay with him lying?

There is some serious cognitive dissonance in all Trumpettes these days. They would all feel so much better if they simply admitted the ugly truth.

How long did it take until charges were filed against Nixon? I for one am continuing to smile.

It was a little over two years between the start of the investigation and his resignation. About July or August of next year would be an equivalent time period. And I do not think that the Nixon investigation was anywhere near as advanced as this one is right now. I am pretty sure that the man that "never settles" will pull a Nixon and resign with a guarantee from Pence of immunity.

Arggh, President Pence. At least he will not be an idiot when it comes to tariffs, I hope.

My question was rhetorical, but thanks anyway.

Talk about cognitive dissonance....those who opposed Trump were largely
& willfully in denial about the alternative. Hillary's incompetence, corruption,
& worst of all, her war mongery were what made Trump the lesser of 2 evils.
And now the anti-Trumpers want to put Pence in office so that he can place
his favored ones on the Supreme Court.
They look at what they personally dislike about Trump, but the give no thought
to the actual policies effected, or would be effected had he lost or were he ousted.

I honestly don’t know how you can say this with a straight face.

That may be. I hated the thought that I might have had to vote for Hillary. I was ready to do so, but I had no picture of her as the best candidate.

And I can see Trump getting us into a war caused by his incompetence and rage before Hillary got PO'd at someone and started a war of vengeance.

And both Trump and Pence are equally as bad when it comes to the Supreme Court. They each have their distorted agendas. The one thing going for us if Trump is kicked out is that any nominees of Pence's will face stiff resistance that may well work, especially after a Trump resignation. I do not think that the Democrats will push for impeachment. At this point Trump is their "ally" since his negatives are so strong it will make the Democratic Party stronger.

Well, spluh....that's because of your cognitive dissonance.
Ie, unwillingness to face Hillary's record in government, &
imagining how great she would be..

Trump's nominees have been surprisingly good. Perhaps this seems unlikely because
he makes so many rash decisions. But for these nominees, recommendation & vetting
is done by others more thoughtful, so he's in a position to take his time selecting whom
he likes from the best of the best. Pence though, has a far more theocratic bent, & this
is how I see him as being worse.

As for war mongery, Trump is indeed a risk for it. But Hillary has an extensive record
supporting war. This made her the greater risk.

Some have been good. Some have been God awful. Secretary of Education DeVos for example. Though I am pleasantly surprised that Sessions has shown that he does have some ethics. Of course being ethical in the Trump admin only means that you are more than likely to get fired.

And yes, Pence is scarier, but he would be as effective as a President as Gerald Ford or even less so. If he gets the Presidency he will probably not even run for reelection.

I spoke only of SCOTUS nominations.
DeVos was never one.

The hatred for Trump is primarily personal. Such people
appear to want their President to be a vaunted father figure,
rather than caring about governnance.
His record of effected policies isn't actually that bad. His tax
reform was pretty good. I'm amazed that it got thru Congress.
So far it's a better record than Obama's or Bush's.

His tax reform may end up being a good thing. His tariffs have been rather ineffective to negative so far. Though amazing incompetence may amazingly end up in our trade partners caving, but I do not see that happening with China.

And it looks like the hopes for North Korea were overblown. The winner of the meetings so far has been North Korea. They got recognized and treated as a real country and did not have to give up anything.

Ha! No rose colored glasses here. But seriously, Hillary as more corrupt and incompetent than Trump? Haha. Hillary, who’s endured countless investigations without anything turning up. Hillary, who has a solid record of service, though not without its spots.

Compared to Trump. Who has left a trail of bankrupted and failed businesses— including a casino for Christ’s sake. Who has a trail of fraud and other charges, usually settled.

As for “war monger”, you conjured up that phantasm from the Iraq vote and a few bristly Iran comments, blissfully ignoring Trump’s own Iraq support or his disturbing comments regarding hunting down terrorist family’s and the like. But I suppose when reality fails us, we must turn to boogie men.
