Optimistic polling data. Can a lad still dare to dream that Brexit will yet be entirely averted, both hard and soft?

Brexit poll reveals record number of voters think decision to leave EU is wrong

Voters are turning against Brexit as they lose faith in Theresa May’s handling of the negotiations, a new poll shows.

The proportion of people who disagree with leaving the EU has reached a high of 47 per cent – a record 7 points ahead of the 40 per cent who still back the decision.

The figure has leapt three percentage points in just one week, as the cabinet fails to agree on an exit strategy – and amid stark warnings about the chaos from leaving with no deal.

The 40 per cent who told YouGov that the Brexit vote was the right one was also down three points and is now at the lowest level recorded.

Significantly, no fewer than 62 per cent of voters said the government was handling Brexit negotiations badly, with just 23 per cent backing ministers.

EU will be sure to make an example of the process for others thinking to leave.

After the farce and national humiliation that has been the British masterstroke in non-negotiation and Faulty-Towers level of ineptitude over the last two years, since our happy and glorious referendum, I sincerely doubt that any other member state - even Italy or Greece - will feel remotely inclined to go by the exit door.

In pursuing the Brexit fantasy bereft of a game plan, and failing spectacularly to come up with any viable future for the country accordingly, the UK has likely ensured the survival of the EU for the next century.

And I should add that I am not in the least bit biased in this debate, or partisan, as you can no doubt tell ;) (#exitfrombrexitnow...cough, cough...).

The Best of British to you!

Yuuupppp.....

One hell of a hangover too, I'll tell ya.
To an outsider, watching Brexit and trying to discus it with British Brexit enthusiasts was like trying to talk a beloved family member out of shooting themselves in the foot, which fir no obvious reason suddenly seemed like a really good idea to them. It's sad and baffling to watch, but it's not like all the credible people weren't saying "THIS IS A BAD IDEA" long and loud beforehand. Now the foot has been shot, abd sepsis seems to be taking hold, well, with the best will in the world, I hope there's time to save what's left of the limb, and that failing that, amputation doesn't lead to terminal decline.

That is the most appropriate analogy for Brexit I've ever read...well, that and "up a creek without a paddle", "going to hell in a handcart", "calamity jane", "asylum-level-lunacy".....:D

Sometimes people living abroad and looking on without rose-tinted, nationalist spectacles, can objectively understand a situation better than some of us here on the ground.

For those of us Brits with some shred of dignity left, however, the whole affair has just been so brain-numbingly embarrassing, as we watch our country sink from one degree of stupidity to the next and lose any last morsels of credibility that we'd managed to retain.

Vouthon...you're diverting the problem. That is...EU is a German dictatorship, and Brexit is being boycotted by the technocrats unleashed by a certain élite.

EU will be sure to make an example of the process for others thinking to leave.
Lol...sounds like a threat:D

The harsh light of the morning after beginning to dawn, huh?

I kind of suspect the Brexit voters were a wee bit like folks who get intoxicated, take someone home with them, and now, in the full light of the morning, are beginning to clearly see their "beautiful lover" is a diseased junkie. All those promises made before the vote! They absolutely must have been intoxicated by hopes and fears to have believed them.

I'm fairly on board with Brexit, I'll admit.

Word to the wise. See my post #12 in this thread, then get tested for STDs.

Just teasing, Kirran. You every right to your opinion, of course, and you might even be correct -- although I think that's a long shot.

If it helps, I voted Remain.

After the farce and national humiliation that has been the British masterstroke...

If you don't already know, I'm hear to tell you, Brexit had far reaching consequences for both you British, and for us Americans too! We absolutely felt it necessary after your vote to elect Trump president on the grounds that we'd be intolerably less than true friends if we failed to join you in hell for the sake of keeping you company.

Meh, if we could drag it out for another year and Italy exits a nong with Spain it'll be game over for Mrs mopp Merkel and the hopeless tossers who syphon off our money.

I'd like to make it clear that my unenthusiastic support for Brexit stems from a different place than it generally does within the nationalists and right-wingers who constitute the mainstream of the pro-Brexit crowd.

In this thread the main reason for Brexit seems to be Gemanophobia.

Instead we pall up with Turkey, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China and Trump's US. Yes, that the same US that's just stuffed us on trade tariffs and is looking for a trade war like led to the 1920's dpression.

And the Brexiteers still shout 'Project Fear' - you couldn't script it.
