Brexit poll reveals record number of voters think decision to leave EU is wrong

I'd like to make it clear that my unenthusiastic support for Brexit stems from a different place than it generally does within the nationalists and right-wingers who constitute the mainstream of the pro-Brexit crowd.

Fear not! No one thinks you must be a Martian, a Little Englander country bumpkin or god-forbid one of those bare beer-bellied, union-Jack-spouting English football hooligans, for being less opposed in principle to Brexit than an EU-fanatic, metropolitan liberal elitist yuppie commiserating over a bottle of proseco and Starbucks coffee, like moi ;)

I promise not to think of you any differently :D

If it helps, I voted Remain.
I also voted to "join" when Finland, Sweden and Austria joined. When the rules hit, people in other countries were shocked by the new bureaucracy and paperwork mountains but Finns embraced it full on. We as a nation became the "model student". My enthusiasm died 10 years later when our education system which was ahead was worsened to European level. Suddenly requirements were much lower. Why are less innovations coming now?

Remember times like this, that now became a joke with our unemployment high and government has no real tools except kicking down the poor...

It's changed hasn't it... though our media tries to root for it even when it's wrong.

As Europe Day is celebrated across the European Union, Finland’s previously robust relationship with the EU is no longer a starstruck love affair.

And the Brexiteers still shout 'Project Fear' - you couldn't script it.
If we are to believe the media here, you will run out of food in a few days after you exit and your hospitals will run out drugs in a week... so project Fear is being used all around.

NO! Those are Government written papers that were leaked. The Tory media has been denying them ever since.

I'm so much of an elite I go for fairtrade coffee from a local coffee shop if given the choice...

I don't know which media you are talking about but in the UK 90% of the printed media is pro-Brexit.

Is it? I don't read printed media really, so I'm surprised to hear that.

In this thread the main reason for Brexit seems to be Gemanophobia.
.

No...it's Merkelophobia...I speak German quite well:D

You need to understand what countries are really virtuous in Europe...to see how far this dictatorship has gone.

Hungary has banned a criminal like Soros...Austria banned his NGOs as well....

Then there is UK who puts such criminals onto a pedestal...

The Sun, Star, Express, Mail, Telegraph, Times are pro Leave
Independent, Guardian and Mirror are pro Remain

Add the circulation figures (Not even including on-line figures which put the Mail in mega circulation) and you get the sort of percentage I'm referring to.

You don't have talk some rubbish at times, Soros is no more on a pedestal than Russian Oligarchs or Murdoch who is controlling the press and pro-Brexit.

What's the problem with Soros?

So you really believe that while in the EU the Brits lost their capability to keep their country running even on a basic level? Anything is possible I guess to me it just seems like a scare.

EU will be sure to make an example of the process for others thinking to leave.

I'm guessing that lower international trade is going to cost the UK far more than any savings it will get from cutting what it paid to the UK.

I don't know what to believe but those were papers written on bequest of the Tory Government that were drawn up to show the worst case scenario. Note the last 3 words.

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
I kind of suspect the Brexit voters were a wee bit like folks who get intoxicated, take someone home with them, and now, in the full light of the morning, are beginning to clearly see their "beautiful lover" is a diseased junkie. All those promises made before the vote! They absolutely must have been intoxicated by hopes and fears to have believed them.
That sort of thing was the intended implication of my initial comment, yes.

If that's true then you've truly lost qualifications to be an independent country and need someone from the outside to take care of your country.

You think trades the end of it?

No, not at all. I just think that much of what happens now will crucially depend on what the government does. Trade, however, is a forgone conclusion I believe. It's going to drop enough regardless of what the gov does.
