One of the approaches that I personally find useful is to cultivate the thought: If the situation or problem is such that it can be remedied, then there is no need to worry about it. In other words, if there is a solution or a way out of the difficulty, you do not need to be overwhelmed by it. The appropriate action is to seek its solution. --The Dalai Lama

We can experience suffering in even the most beautiful surroundings. Peace is not found outside, but within. ~ Bhante Sujatha

When we carry our emotional thoughts unconsciously, we remain unconscious, and reside in worry and daydreaming. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Thoughts come to our mind quite unconsciously and most of them are emotional. We are easily carried away by these emotional thoughts. However, once we become conscious of them, their emotional control lessens, and we can work with them skillfully. ~ Bhante Sujatha

The first thing is to learn how to quiet the mind, relax the mind, and bring the awareness to the front so that we are conscious of what we're doing when we're doing it without all the commentary. ~ Tenzin Palmo

Awareness must be felt.It is beyond the process of thinking. ~ Bhante Sujatha

"If there is Zen in it, or whatever it is, it comes through if you enjoy doing your work. Anything you do with the best of your capacities is beautiful…Your whole body gets to be a part of everything, and you become free." - Toshiko Takaezu, “Toshiko Takaezu’s Hidden Worlds”

'We all want to grow and be better. Practice mindfully and changes will come in their own time.

The right direction is far more important than the pace at which we progress.' ~ Bhante Sujatha

We can't correct the world. We have to learn how to use the world to make ourselves correct. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Sometimes challenges come at us with more strength and speed than we think that we can handle. The reality is that challenges are always coming at us and some are just easier to see than others. Mindfulness practice teaches us both how to see, and how to handle them. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Mindfulness is not just a word or a discourse by the Buddha, but a meaningful state of mind. It means we have to be here now, in this very moment, and we have to know what is happening internally and externally. It means being alert to our motives and learning to change unwholesome thoughts and emotions into wholesome ones Mindfulness is a mental activity that in due course eliminates all suffering. ~ Ayya Khema

Thoughts come to our mind quite unconsciously and most of them are emotional. We are easily carried away by these emotional thoughts. However, once we become conscious of them, their emotional control lessens, and we can work with them skillfully. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Part of mindfulness practice is selective thinking, which is choosing the thoughts we focus on, instead of connecting with whatever thought that arises in the mind. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Awareness is the great non-conceptual perfection. ~ Dzogchen

As we go through life, we accumulate layers of ideas about who we are and what we’re capable of achieving. As these layers accumulate, we tend to become increasingly rigid in our identification with certain views about ourselves and the world around us. Gradually, we lose our connection to the basic openness, clarity, and love that is the essence of our being. ~ Tsoknyi Rinpoche

If we can allow some space within our awareness and rest there, we can respect our troubling thoughts and emotions, allow them to come, and let them go. Our lives may be complicated on the outside, but we remain simple, easy, and open on the inside. ~ Tsoknyi Rinpoche

Instead of focusing on some thoughts and feelings and pushing away others, just look at them as feathers flying in the wind. The wind is your awareness, your inborn openness and clarity. ~ Tsoknyi Rinpoche

"Love and understanding can ease the suffering of all beings. The truth is the truth, whether or not it is accepted by the majority. Therefore, I tell you children, it takes great courage to stand up for and protect what is right." - Thich Nhat Hanh, “The Wounded Swan”

Expectation is belief
built on unstable foundations.
Reality is what we observe
in the present moment. ~ Bhante Sujatha

Many of us spend more time during the day dreaming than when we sleep.
There is nothing wrong with thinking ahead or wishing for a positive future, but we have to understand that mindfulness is based in the reality of the present. ~ Bhante Sujatha

There is a path.
We have to walk it ourselves.

Awareness is the quintessential teaching of the Buddha–from the awareness of cool air as you breath in and then out, to the profound awareness of natural perfection. And with boundless compassion and courage, the sole purpose and activity of all the buddhas it is to ring the alarm bell that brings us to this awareness. ~ Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

If you conquer the primordial nature by distinguishing mind from awareness, the view of the absolute will naturally become clear…One day, as your confidence in awareness grows, mind will appear as witless as a child, and awareness as wise as a venerable old sage. Awareness will not run after mind, but eclipse it. In a relaxed, serene state, rest with ease. ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
