Can a literal Genesis creation story really hold up?

I agree.... on both accounts.

I get that Thief calls genesis as "having the earmarks of a science experiment"...
But that anybody would agree...?
What about genesis reads like an account of a science experiment? What science experiment sounds even remotly like the genesis account?
In what world, in what universe, in what weird laboratory would any science experiment look like the genesis account?

Got an iq of 125.
How are you doing?
Which doesn't really mean much in the real world.

The IQ tests doesn't show that you know much about history or any specific field in science. It also doesn't demonstrate that you are great artist or musician.

The tests are very limited.

And from my last several of exchanges with you or just reading your posts, you are certainly no scientist, nor are you a historian. You prove this serious lacking in knowledge when you replied to me with this inane claim:

You are made of dust...and dust you will be
and yes this is theology.

We are not made out of dust. That think so, just show how truly ignorant you are with biology.

The IQ tests .

EXACTLY.

Does a higher IQ stop fanaticism and fundamentalism??? Not in the least.

All he is showing is a trolling perversion of literalism, and the ability to proselytize his unsubstantiated perversions

Do trolls use history books when preaching to the choir?...of course they do.

Eccliastes says that we come from dust and to dust we will return. Many places in the Bible use return to dust as a euphemism for dying. The Hebrew word for dust is also translated earth, dirt, soil, and similar things made of small grains or particles. Yes, it is poetic, but reasonably accurate statement of what happens after our body decomposes.

It is also a good statement that our bodies, when formed in the womb, are made of the same things as what our body returns to. In fact, in Psalms, it says that we are but dust.

Thus, you are right, that we are made from elements. We don't decompose all the way back to elements. We return to soil. This doesn't deny that there are other components to our body other than soil (such as water) but just focuses on our bodies being frail, made of ordinary substances.

hey Greenie,
Pretty good post, and almost realistically acceptable !
From a womb to your failing demise, we all become dust or rot.
Now about that Heaven thing, we got a problem !
Anyway...good post.
