i don't know about "God is love" but instead "love comes from god" (he is the source) there are many characterisitcs of Allah, all of Allah's names are also characteristics of Allah and all characteristics of Allah are not the names of Allah.

John the apostle in his epistle said that God is love.
We know he is love because the holy scriptures tell us he is and we can see by what he does in the world that he is indeed love.
Love cannot "come" from God. God IS the source of love and is love itself. Nothing exists without him. He created everything.
God is LOVE. The Bible teaches this all through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation of Jesus Christ.

It has been told me on more than one occasion that groups regarded as cults and heresies by Christians are described as such precisely because they fail to describe Jesus Christ as THE Son of God as the New Testament says but as "a son of God" which it does not say.
Is this just pedantry or a fundamental distinction?
