Can good people go to hell?

Luciferi Baphomet

Very good question. I would add to that for this person to explain what sin is as I don't believe in 'sin' at all. It's a manmade concept designed to browbeat people into doing as one who leads said faith. Its no different, IMO, that a dictator telling this person or that to do whatever or they go to prison, even get killed.
To me it is sort of like a threat. "If you don't follow me, you will go to hell for eternity."

hmm, how to start it? ok very simple my God created you. tht's it.
Wait... this is seriously the "proof" that you had? If there is a God, He knows it is not this simple, and He'd help you along with something more profound if there were to be fruits to this labor of yours. But, alas... not going to happen. And I believe that I know why. Do you?

So me and my friend were talking about religions. And he said asked me do I respect the 10 commandments and listed them. I answered yes to all. I do respect them. Then, he asked do I help other people. I answered Yes. He asked me what do I do. I said: Today I helped my brother with picking up 30 min of his trash so when he come home he doesn't have to. I also cleaned my mom's room as a surprise. altogether about 2 h. I then asked "What is hell?". He explained it and I asked who goes to hell. He said: Non-Christians. So I respect the commandmetns and am good to people (In my opinion) and I do think Jesus did miracles, but he is not the ONLY way to god, and I would go to hell. Is that correct? Just wandering, I don't really belive in hell ;)

Well, it seems that good people do go to Hell (if it exists) and bad people can be "saved" and go to Heaven. Sorta pokes a stick in the eye of lady justice, doesn't it?

In light of recent senseless events I feel we ARE IN HELL NOW!
Satan's minions are always at work.
Yet I see so many crying to ban all guns everywhere instead of looking at the
root cause of carnage and evil.
PEOPLE and convoluted idealistic programming that somehow murder is right.

Mass murder (sadly) is nothing new nor confined to this Nation.
It's a world wide issue.
We in the U.S. seldom here about mass killings in other nations but mass murders
in the U.S. are propagated world wide.

Note knives and vehicles used as well.
But I understand gun violence and the emotions evoked.
It #isses me off also.

So far we talk about the God what else we would prove? God is real. I can prove it.
Then do it. I am all ears as is the rest of the world who would stand in awe of your ability. Please prove that God exists beyond doubt and without the need for faith. And you completely ignored my questions about proving that heaven and/or hell exists. Why is that? You stated that there is a hell and/or heaven for a statement of fact and I asked you to prove that assertion. You side stepped that answer and made another statement that is beyond your ability to prove. Most adults can admit when they have made statements of belief. Can you at least try to answer the first remarks I made in relation to your saying there is a heaven and/or hell? Or are you going to continue to side step the issue?

I believe the "hell" mentioned in some Bible translations is simply the grave. So both good people and bad go to "hell" or the grave when they die.(Ecclesiastes 9:5,10) I believe the teaching of hellfire is a lie and a slander against God.
Interesting Rusra. Most Christians do state there is a hell. Why do you consider this to be slanderous against God? And why a lie? I am truly interested in your answer.

I totally agree and that is one of the reasons I don't believe there is such a thing. Its not more or less than what children are told and what is utilized against children to make them tow the line, if you know what I mean. Christians have grabbed onto this idea to make the adherents do as the leaders of the church state, or at least that was the initial idea and it continues to be a large part of what the church teaches. Don't do this or you go to hell which IMO, is a threat and the God I believe in would never be a part of something such as that. Its contrary to everything that God (Using that name for a way to convey meaning) represents IMO.

I believe the threats are used just to force christians to worship god. That is what I think.

That is true. On facebook there are christians who will pose as satanists to get in the satanic groups and then start sh*t like "You guys are going to hell", or "You guys are going to the lake of fire".

I believe the teaching that God will torment people forever is a lie. Slander is a false report intended to damage another person’s reputation. Jehovah told Adam that if he disobeyed God, "you will certainly die." (Genesis 2:17) When Jehovah passed sentence for Adam's sin, he told Adam; "in the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 2:19) Clearly, "the wages sin pays is death." (Romans 6:23) Even so, I believe God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, because God is love. (Ezekiel 33:11) The teaching that this loving God will torture people forever in flames of fire is a despicable falsehood, IMO. Humans who torture others are rightly considered to be evil. Concerning those who burned their children alive as sacrifice to their false gods, Jeremiah 7:31 says; "They have built the high places of Toʹpheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinʹnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, something that I had not commanded and that had never even come into my heart.’ What the Bible teaches clearly refutes the hellfire dogma, IMO.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I was never forced as a child and in fact, my parents tried to expose me to as many religions and faiths as they could find. Atheism, Christianity, Quakerism, NA ways, Judaism, etc. Not all are coerced. Some are, I grant you but not all and I firmly believe in God, btw, just not the Christian understanding of same. I am Buddhist and view faith very differently.

I find those types of people to be misguided and very poor representatives of the Christian faith. Keep in mind, I have a PhD in theology. I try to understand all faiths and judge none of them. These types of people, however, do tend to grate on my nerves as they are posers. It is all well and good to believe what one wants and so on but to come to another church (no offense intended by that) and tell you you are wrong is, IMO, the height of arrogance and just plain wrong.

I understand that it is your view that the Bible doesn't teach this and you have supported your argument rather well with your chosen passages but there are many others who would refute your POV using passages of their own Rusra02. Whether or not you agree is almost beside the point as the Bible does, indeed, teach that there is one faith and those who don't adhere to that faith will never achieve Nirvana, enlightenment, heaven.. pick your term. And also, people are told in the Bible that certain things will result in death and hell. Revelations 21; 8. Matthew 13; 50 and 25; 46. 2nd Peter 2; 4 and so on. These passages clearly indicate that those who don't live up to what God demands will end up in hell. There is no doubt in the reading. How then, do you justify that?

Atheists get the same thing. I mostly get the slightly less aggressive, but infinitely more patronizing, "aren't you afraid you'll end up in hell?"
My least favorite is the old "Do you know where you're going when you die?" because it assumes way, way too much for my liking. That there is an "afterlife" to begin with, that there is an agency passing judgments as to where people end up, and (of course it is supposed to go without saying) that the agency assumed is headed up by "God".

From now on I think I'm going to confront the asker of that question with a question of my own - "Have you finally stopped voraciously eating dog crap?"
