Can Religion and Science work together or not? And why?
Depends on which religion or aspect you take from it...

"The mind of God is like cosmic music, resonating throughout 11 dimensional hyperspace." - Dr Michio Kaku

'God spoke the word, and all things were made manifest from it.' :innocent:

Voted yes. The "conflict thesis" that there is an intrinsic conflict between science and religion is a very selective view of the history of science (focusing on gallieo and Darwin). It also treats religion exclusively in terms of revelation and misses out enlightenment deism and natural theology such as thomas squints (or maybe the creationism of parley?) Deeper philosophical conflicts do exist particularly over scientism or scientific materialism BUT the latter has been steadily marginalised from mainstream science since the late 19th century as a dogma.

They don't really need to work 'together', just coexist. The 'conflict' between religion and science is also pretty overstated.

Even among the monotheisms that are often viewed as being the most 'anti-science', there is actually very little overlap between them. Even among the fundies, it's only a tiny percentage of 'science' that they have issues with. More moderate monotheists, and those of other belief systems often have no problem whatsoever with the sciences.

The religion v science dichotomy is somewhat false.

I make up facts.
I'm not sure what you mean by "work together." If you mean injecting religion into science, then it's a hard "no." If you mean can scientists be religious, then the answer is "of course."

How does one apply god to the scientific method?
cause and effect.

substance will not move until 'something' moves it.

science would have you believe .....all of the universe came form one location
that's a lot of substance in one place

even so...it won't move until 'something' moves it

Spirit first....As Creator
substance as creation

No, religion asks not to question while science do ask to question.

However, religious folks can be perfectly scientific, see ; mendelian genetics.

There is nothing in the truthful religion against science, and also there is nothing in science against the truthful religion. They worked together in the past, so they will always do.

That rules Islam out.

[Surah 86:5-7] - So let man observe from what he was created.
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

Semen does not come from between the backbone and the ribs. :)

"Working together" implies that there's a specific task that needs doing.

What, exactly, is the task or tasks in question?

Science has made no such objection.
