I would be more concerned about putting hormones into such young bodies. They need time for the hormones to do their thing and get sorted out.

Copper IUD for the win.

But it's a traumatic enough experience for an adult who knows exactly what is going on and has support all around them, let alone a young teenager whose mum doesn't even know. That's pretty dangerous, imho.

You beat me to looking at that site. Unfortunately right now the internet is a fetid swamp filled with lying. There are a goodly number of better sites such as RF, of course, but there are too many where the "father of lies" holds sway. The regular media is no home for saints, but compared to others they are marvels of truth and accuracy. That's of course not saying much but still, when I read some crazy headline I reflect that if it were true the big media outlets would be all over it because it would draw viewers/readers and advertising dollars.
There were some other real doozies too, but they came & went from the site.

I just had a new IUD put in last year. They are definitely using it still. I don't think the risk is significant enough to pull it from shelves. Paraguard (which is the copper IUD) is the best non-hormonal long term BC for many women sensitive to hormone BC.

Thank you for that information it is appreciated!

Without verifying the info in the article, I'm inclined to say it's bogus.
I base this on some other headlines they have.....
Obama Prohibits Practice of Catholicism in U.S.

Sir, are you from the state of Washington, specifically the western side :) ? I don't think so or you wouldn't say that :) . They always vote liberal Democrat except when it comes to gun control, they are adamant about keeping their guns, and Seattle has the highest minimum wage in the US. You as a business person would not be happy there. Nope :) . And now that we know that the IUD has a minimal cancer risk and is therefore safe for childern that have reached puberty, it is the best solve for everybody. You put it in and no babies until you take it out :) . That sucker is extremely effective. German science invented it durring WWII to prevent the women that were forced into servicing their officers from getting pregnant. It is better for society and for the little girls if they do not get pregnant until they decide that they want to have children. Now all they have to worry about are STD's which can also ruin a child's life. Which means that there has to be a free prophylactic program in that school system also :) . If you know anything about the Seattle public school system you would understand that something needed to be done, those kids are wild and it is dangerous to be a teacher in that school system. And it has been that way for years. So guys I change my vote :) I think that that article is real.

I haven't been in Seattle in almost 40 years.
Things seem to have changed there.

I have a lot of cousins and other family that that live in Seattle and I was born there but never lived there. Like most big cities the poorer parts of it can be ruff. But now that parents are demanding that their children are safe at school :) and minorities are more interested in getting an education, I suspect that things are changing into a more positive reality. And if I remember right, there was a crack down on the gangs, which probably helped :) . The east side of Washington is conservitive Republican, but the west has way more people so they control the politics of Washington State. It use to be Republican, but it is not anymore :) . Matter of fact Washington State politics is now so liberal Democrat that eastern Washington wants to and keeps trying to declare itself a different state :) . But they just do not have the clout to do it. If you ever come to Washington state again you will find that eastern Washington is on your side of politics and very much so :) .. And there is no way that IUD's would be allowed in "their" school systems in eastern Washington.

I find that very few places are on my side.
Too much authority everywhere.

Without authority you and I would have no place to anchor our creativity :) . In a world of total chaos there isn't anything to rebel against :) . Boring! And Mr Revolt, boring you are not :) .

I'm a fan of the right amount of authority.
There's just too much of it wielded by too many who are too unsuited.
