Can the Zetgeist Believers Please Stop Comparing Jesus with Osiris and Horus?

Yeah I suppose they could but why would they? Especially since there are 16 other crucified saviours with the same MO as him and many before he was ever constructed.

There are 16 crucified other saviours? I don't think so. The only other one I know of is Mithra, and it's well known that particular element wasn't in original Persian Mithraism, it was a Roman innovation based on Christianity.

Jesus MO is nothing new they have been doing it for thousands of years. Only thing is most are now considered mythological in nature Zeus and others. He is no more than a mythological interpretation of other ancient Gods rolled into one person. If Jesus did all the miracles and other workings that are claim by the Inerrant Gospels then why did not any one of the Historians at the time mention these wonder workings? Why are there no contempoary evidence that supports this theory? Simple it did not happen.
Quote:
In the final analysis there is no evidence that the biblical character called "Jesus Christ" ever existed. As Nicholas Carter concludes in The Christ Myth: "No sculptures, no drawings, no markings in stone, nothing written in his own hand; and no letters, no commentaries, indeed no authentic documents written by his Jewish and Gentile contemporaries, Justice of Tiberius, Philo, Josephus, Seneca, Petronius Arbiter, Pliny the Elder, et al., to lend credence to his historicity."Quote:

Azrael so you're basically using arguments like the Zetgeist to support your position? Even though the Zetgeist is based on very poor scholarship and seems to fabricate various bases it uses for it's argument? Such as Horus being born a human and having a mother called Merri?

Not worried about Zeitgeist. The likeness between Jesus and other mythological Gods of the ancients is not coincidental. With the early Church fathers habit of forgery and interpolation one can hardly put scholarly attributes in their corner now can we. But, the truth always hurts and if there were not some truth to it then it would not have made such a stir now would it? But anyway...................

What truth? You do know that the guy you sited as your source as also been shown to now really know all of what he talks about right? Just like the people that did Zeitgeist. Other Scholars show his not right. Some people wish to just throw wrenches in stuff they know nothing off.
Oh and nothing hurts here, you do realize that we're not Christian trying to prove that are god is original, but Pagans showing that there's a bunch of ignorant unfounded crap out there by people who wish to bash on Christianity and try and use Paganism for there weapon...but it doesn't work.

Truth? LOL. How does Jesus compare to ancient figures in Pagan religions all that much? Maybe a few similarities, but these folks tend to blow it way out of porportion.

Yes it does or you would not be getting so ****** right now. Truth is everything Christianity gained is from the Pagans. Easter, Christmas, etc etc...

I don't deny Christianity got Christmas and Easter from Pagans. Truth is I'm a Christian myself, though a very heretical one, and I think Christianity and Paganism compliment each other very well. I have no problem calling Christianity, Pagan, but to be fair, Jesus' story isn't that much like that of other figures.

Which is greater; the stars or the stories they create and their effect on society?

That is the true question for any Zeitgeist believer.

Apparently the ancients thought it was the stars huh....but you'll have to ask some one who buys into the whole of the Zeitgeist theory like some here think I do? The correlations are there, maybe not the same, maybe not totally true or not, who knows? But its a known fact that Ancient Egyptian text are 4400 years old and clearly played a role some where?

I'm not mad. I don't understand why you feel the need to stick me with an emotional outburst on a forum when you can hear me. Quite sad that you'd do that, trying to appeal to emotions?
And it's not dead, if you won't site real scholars that have real credentials you are still going to be called on it. If you have nothing to back up what you say, then fine. Ether way, I'm done here.

Good. Me too. Have a nice day though....though I see you have posted no real scholars to claim otherwise so I guess we are even................

You are aware that "The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors" has been thoroughly debunked. From the site you linked to:

Note: the scholarship of Kersey Graves has been questioned by numerous theists and nontheists alike; the inclusion of his The World's Sixteen Crucified Saviors in the Secular Web's Historical Library does not constitute endorsement by Internet Infidels, Inc. This document was included for historical purposes; readers should be extremely cautious in trusting anything in this book.

Not a very credible book at all. Especially when it has been shown that a few of the crucified saviors he mentions are not found anywhere else but in Graves book. Even Richard Carrier, one of the supporters of the Jesus Myth, states that Graves is extremely unreliable. Really, the book is basically useless, as most scholars agree.

Maybe you would like to read some actual credible work on the historical Jesus. Or just about ancient history in general. The Gospels are filled with myth. However, so are the stories of Augusts, Alexander the Great, Buddha, Julius Caesar, as well as many others. Historical Jesus scholarship realizes this, and concludes that there is some myth (being born of a virgin, resurrecting, many of the miracles, etc), but there was also a historical figure that it is based on.
