Personally when do not know or follow any organised religion; how could others tell?

Well, yes one is always free to exercise the mind.
However, religion is all about *stilling* that very mind.

Because whenever I talk about my religion to someone the first thing they ask is ether I'm morman or a Jehovah Witness.

You can't tell for sure by looking. Why? Even if there is a super-obvious piece of jewelry, it may have been given to them by a loved one based on that loved one's religion.

Not really, except for cases where it's kind of obvious. It'd be a fun trick though!

I don't think the man wearing a kufi and thawb with a beard as long as his fist and a short moustache is a Mormon, for example.

Well, that's not because of how you look but because of how you act. If you didn't say anything about your religion, that would probably never enter his head.
