Cannabis boosts risk of stroke and heart attack, independent of tobacco, new study finds

If you don't think anyone says marijuana has no ill effects, maybe you should try reading Deeje's posts, among others.
I have not once seen Deeje make the claim that marijuana is 100% safe or that it has no side effects.
Please be so kind as to present direct quotes where she has made these claims.

If you do not, I can only assume it you once again twisting what was actually said to fit your agenda.

As far as I'm concerned, moderation, when it comes to drugs and alcohol, is doing none at all.

I'm sorry but I have never smoked marijuana in my life.

Never smoked or actually taken illegal drugs of any sort. I have taken some prescription medicine but suffered awful side effects. I ended up throwing them away. I take nothing but vitamins.

I believe you used to be one of those "stoners" so are you saying that you don't believe yourself?....I don't believe you either.

Well If you've never been high in your life, I highly recommend you stop encouraging other people to get high themselves.

Lyndon, do you have a comprehension problem? o_O

Medicinal Cannibis is the only thing I have ever advocated. This excludes recreational use, which I have never advocated. As a medicine, it is not used to get high, it is used to get well or to alleviate suffering. The benefits are documented for many medical conditions. Compared to pharma drugs, there are no adverse side effects that do more damage to an already sick body.

Your own experience has clouded your view IMO. There are ways to administer this medicine without smoking it. Vaping it, taking it orally and juicing the raw plant are all ways to take this wonderful God-given medicine.

Rather than being a 'gateway' drug, cannabis can actually help people beat their other addictions. Doesn't orthodox medicine use Methodone to treat heroine addiction? How can this be criticised for cannabis, when this same principle has been used by orthodox medicine for years? The only difference is that Methodone is simply exchanging one addictive poison for another.

Cannabis is not physically addictive, though some people can become psychologically addicted to the effect. Alcohol and tobacco are highly addictive and responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths every year....just like prescription drugs. Your arguments do not hold up under scrutiny.

You don't seem to get it, most of these medicinal users are getting high on the pot, and that IS a side effect, whether you like it or not.

Low THC is not going to get anyone high. The medicinal strains are not sought by recreational users because of that reason. It isn't just one plant you know.

How many pharma drugs are getting people high and actually doing them damage?

It's you who doesn't seem to get it.

Medical marijuana is not only low THC strains, many people get there medical pot license just TO get high. You've been reading a lot of pro medical pot propaganda, and not testing any of it to see if its true or not IMHO.

Marijuana is natural and you can take it in ways in which you don't smoke it while pills can be very dangerous because many people get addicted to them.

Cannabis boosts risk of stroke and heart attack, independent of tobacco, new study finds

Data taken from more than 1,000 US hospitals found that people who used the drug had a 26 per cent higher chance of suffering a stroke than those who did not, and a 10 per cent higher chance of having a heart attack.

...
They indicate there is something intrinsic about cannabis which can damage the proper functioning of the human heart.

Red meat and lack of exercise have the same effect. Should we ban cattle and televisions?

I choose to use no drugs, including caffeine, but I think they should be legal and people's choices to make.

That said, I do not think you should be able to use any drug but caffeine or tobacco in public and that efforts should be made to stop the effects of second hand smoking, probably through reducing taxes on vaping and increasing taxes on sticks and joints.

Pills in general are not addictive, it would be the medicine that is addictive.

I would also like to point out that a lot of medicines came from nature and that nature has produced lots of poisons as well.

Mistakenly thinking that something is harmless is a mistake. What someone does with that knowledge is the next question.

That happened to me back in the day. I was of the "drugs in moderation, especially marijuana" is fine camp. Someone listed all the side effects and I realized what he said was true and stopped but the PhD I was working on at the time went up in smoke, as it were.

That works in reverse as well. Thinking that something harmless is harmful when someone only wants to sell you an alternative, is a mistake too. Its the oldest marketing tool in existence.....demonize one product to sell you a 'better' one.

Isn't that what happened to butter? This natural product when used in moderation is healthy, but the margarine industry demonized it to sell their own poison. If people knew how margarine was made, they would never have touched it.

Same with the 'low fat' food fad.....fat enhances flavor, so what did the low fat food producers do? They loaded up their tasteless products with artificial flavors and sugar, making them worse for human consumption than the food with a little fat in it. People were eating low fat ice-cream by the bucket load in the mistaken idea that it was low calorie....and then wondered why they got fatter.
It isn't fat that makes you fat...its sugar. The right amount of good fats help you lose weight.

Moderation is the key. You only need very small amounts of medicinal cannabis to treat many illnesses. No one gets high...they just get well. Its time to stop the lies and big pharma cover ups. It's time to make this wonderful natural medicine legal! o_O

Stop drug companies from making synthetic look-alikes that they can patent, (which makes them less effective,) and selling them to make a small fortune.

Any drug used for medicinal purposes is in a different category for me. If it's the best drug for a particular illness, great, it should be available.
