Catholic church and condoms

I'm your huckleberry.
I'm confused then. The OP was stating what right the Church had. I said they had every right to do what they are doing. That doesn't necessarily mean I agree with it. You have the right to worship how you want. I will support that right, but I don't agree with it. Did I miss something?

The OP is citing this article.
I don't find anything in the article asking what right the Church has, it seems to be criticizing their position. Are you referring to something else?

Condoms should be given away free. Far better to use a condom to prevent a pregnancy than to abort an unwanted foetus!

Far better to have sex in marrage and then never risk unwanted pregnancy in the first place:slap:

How does having sex in marriage prevent unwanted pregnancy? Did you mean maybe not have sex unless you want to reproduce?

Three points:

- not every pregnancy that occurs within a marriage is wanted. Restricting access to contraception hampers a married couple's ability to properly plan for their family.

- an adulterer who doesn't use protection against STDs puts his or her spouse at risk through no fault of the spouse. The negative effects of "sinful" sexual activity can extend beyond the people directly participating in it.

- every "abstinence-only" program ever tried has failed miserably. At the policy level, if you actually want to reduce the frequency of unwanted pregnancy, abortion, or sexually transmitted diseases, you need to do something else. Making condoms cheap and readily available does a good job with all of these.

Why don`t we collect all the condoms with semen in it. Put them in the Semen Bank. & anyone who wants to have herself artificially inseminated can go to that bank & chose the color or race of the donor she wants to have a baby with. I guess, the Catholic Church would agree( Is she against artificial insemination?) to her flock using condoms in chosing this kind of set-up.

Unfortunatley the writer does not know what he's talking about. The Catholic Church believes that sex is used for one purpose, to procreate. If you do something that would hinder such act, it is not right. Hence, wearing condoms or taking the pill or any otehr form of birth control is not allowed. People could practice natural family planning for this. Regardless of your feelings about this, it is the Church's stance.

What too many people don't stop to understand is that the Church is defined as THE AGGREGATE OF ITS BELIEVERS!

And statistically, it's been proven that most Catholics in fact use birth control (condoms included).

So therefore, the inescapable conclusion is that REGARDLESS of what the hierarchy thinks or wants, like it or not the fact is that the Church is in favor of contraception.

Simple as that.

In some religions sex is sex so as long as it is rooted in love (pre-marital or not). If you love each other than sex is alright... Its when its founded in lust that is when it becomes a problem...
