Catholics Blame Gays for their Pedophile Problem

Thanks, I will review that post, I either forgot or missed Alceste's post when I posted.

I think that there is still some increased societal outrage over the molestation of boys vs girls. I am not sure why there is more (perhaps it is a media bias, or a perception on my part) apparent outrage over the fact that more victims were male than female.
Personally, I think that there should be incredible amounts of outrage (to near riot levels) regarding the fact that there has been not just a ridiculous amount of molestation happening, but that there has been an apparent institutional, world wide coverup of the molestation of children, regardless of their sex, by an organization purportedly holding the keys to all morality (if you read their pamphlets). If the purveyors of morals violate those morals so egregiously, how can that moral code be considered valid by anyone?

Read a quote by Dan Savage the other day, it fits and is pretty funny. I will summarize: 3 people get attacked by sharks off the coast of Florida, out of MILLIONS of people swimming in the ocean, and nobody swims for weeks, Thousands of children get molested, for years and everybody keeps attending church. Why?

Marx was right, religion is the opium of the people. Opium makes one oblivious to horrendous crimes.

Personally I think all pedophiles, whether they be priests or not, have their hands lopped off, their balls ripped off for the obvious reason, and one of their eyes gouged out. If they continue to molest children, then gouged out the other eye, for good measure.

The same treatment should be given to those who like to rape women, except take out both eyes, and feed it to them.

That would be justice.

So all murderers should be murdered, all thieves have their hands cut off, etc.

One thing comes to mind: I think that the greater the perpetrator's level of care and authority over the child, the greater the outrage at the abuse. The most extreme example of these cases were with orphans, where the victims had no parents or other guardians (or, in the case of some of the incidents in Canada and elsewhere, residential schools where the children were placed after being forcibly taken from their parents), and their care and safety was entirely entrusted to the Church.

Girls would tend to be looked after by nuns; male priests would've generally looked after boys. Since the vast majority of the abuse cases we've heard about have involved priests and not nuns (actually, I can't think of any I've heard about involving nuns... which, now that I think about it, is rather interesting), the majority of the cases that create the largest outcry would involve victims who were boys.

Nobody believes that sharks have magic crackers that you need to eat on a regular basis to sustain your "spiritual life".

Not talking about murderers and thieves.

And if you are referring to Middle East, they don't do that for rapists and pedophiles.

The rape victims get punished far more often, not the rapists. And pedophile are perfectly legal in the Middle East, because you can marry them young. A real sick and twisted legal systems, religion and cultures.

I'm having trouble reading your mood, gnostic. Where are you at on this one?

From what I understand (and have heard from some of their victims), nuns tend indulge in sadistic emotional abuse rather than sexual abuse.

Examples are things like telling the girls in their care things like "you're filthy and evil" and stealing their newborn babies to give them up for adoption.

ME?

Middle East?

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Put some balls back into the law.

I actually do think America should change its system of punishment, since right now everyone gets the "same" punishment - i.e. jail - just more or less time in it.

With the variabllity of laws, judges and enforcement from state to state, you may have a pot smoker in one state end up spending as much time in jail as a murderer in another.

Whether we should go medieval and institute chopping off hands, castration and the like is a tougher question - doesn't set well with a lot of people.

good.
Seems to me we need to shake people up.
We need to make Death Row something to fear and not a status symbol.
We need to make people realize that there are actual real right now consequences for their actions.
We need to pass some tough laws with severe punishments and then enforce them both.

As it stands now the legal system in the USA is a joke.
It is a mockery of justice.
It is about who has the money to hire the lawyer who plays the word games best.

I agree with everything you said, except the death row part. I could do without the death penalty. As regards to the justice system- a total joke. The prisons are such a joke, my grandpa has a joke about them, people aren't breaking out of jail, they're breaking in. Free cable, 3 squares a day, free AC and heat.

My post was about torture, are you in favor of torture, or just prison systems that aren't corrupt?
