Sounds like you are a Christian Universalist.
Thankfully there are two denominations of Christianity that can suit your style. The Unitarian Universalists, whom have become their own religion. Separately they believed in one God (the Father) and universal salvation. Together, they are creedless, and accept anyone for their beliefs.

Another, more newer, denomination of Christianity that accepts Universal Salvation is the Christian Universalist Association. They are still very much Christian in many ways but believe everybody gets to go to Heaven in the afterlife.

Even more than that my Catholic friend, Christians are called to be "like" Christ, not to just follow Christ but to related to, or be from Christ himself. It is not enough to be a follower of Christ, to be a true Christian one has to emulate Christ in each and every part of their life. Any less is sin.

I see Jesus' death as representing our own rejection and response to the revelation and promise the he offers us. The revelation being that we all have a piece of 'God's spirit' within us (love, forgiveness, kindness, and generosity), and the promise being that if we will allow that spirit within us, to become us, we will be healed and saved from ourselves, and we can help to heal and save each other. But the selfish human within us wants to reject that revelation, and that promise. It wants us to live our lives our own way, and to fulfill our own ends. So we (selfish humanity) killed the messenger, hoping to obliterate the revelation and the promise it offers us. But we failed. The revelation and the promise remains on offer to us. As exemplified be the messenger's life, death, and resurrection.
I see no "price" involved, except the price of letting go of our selfishness, so that we can embody that divine spirit within us, and be healed and saved from within.

Hello Moon: Sin brings death! The wage of Sin is death!
Jesus died... He was killed on a cross... Death could not hold Jesus in the grave because Jesus was sinless. Jesus was without sin! Jesus popped UP out of the grave as a cork might rise up in a pool of water!
The First (1) perfect man "Adam" made a free will choice. He chooses sin; Adam brought sin/corruption into God' PERFECT creation! God does all things perfectly otherwise he would not be God! Creation WAS perfect until sin destroyed its purity .... Jesus is the only other perfect man, the second perfect man to be born, Jesus was perfect he was without sin NOW....
Moon now all people ADDED to the risen body of Jesus will also rise... Jesus has been there and done that no one can die a second time! Jesus came to earth for one purpose that is to Die as a man. Can't die as a man IF...

How about the writers of the Gospels thought of that ahead of time?
But that's OK, because the four Gospels are inconsistent, and believers can interpret the texts any way they damn well please.

Yet many hristians are waiting for his return, which means he's not here.
Well, if it had a fatal flaw then it wasn't perfect. So is God flawed? Or did he create it to fail?
Think about it, would a perfect God create something that did NOT go the way God wanted? A perfect God will create things, and it will be exactly as it was created.
So atheists and Hindus are saved automatically?
Explain what it means to be like Christ. Give us a description.
