Changing the words in Roald Dahl's book to remove offence strikes me as...

Glaurung

Denizen of Niflheim
I've never read any of the author's books but this move still upsets me a little. The nihil obstat of a progressive activist class. This move is blatantly ideological and their justifications are contrived.

If an author wants to write nice, safe, socially acceptable pabulum they are free to do so. But leave old works alone. I don't want the past sanitized of its "insensitive words and opinions".

I guess we ought to revise the Book of Common Prayer before some popish person gets offended by its derogatory language for Roman Catholics.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
