Frater Sisyphus
Contradiction, irrationality and disorder
And nudity itself has no objective meaning, it's literally what a/we human being(s) looks like. (as silly as that statement probably sounds)

One of my favorite childhood movies featured a nude adult and two children. It was My Neighbor Totoro, and it was a parent having a bath with their kids. Something that is completely normal and healthy. There was nothing sexual or sexualized about the scene. If people are bringing that kind of baggage to a scene then that should be called out. But being silent, making it non-existent, only makes it this taboo and shameful thing that helps perpetuate the resistance of natural nudity in real life.
This is bad because? Would women like more male nudity in films? How about the violence put in movies for male viewing pleasure? Should this be eliminated? Not showing something does not make it shameful or taboo, unless it actually is.
My problem with nudity in films today, is that 99+ percent of the nudity is added for the male viewing pleasure,
Yup, the silly laws in our country prevented it. but is this what you'd prefer; no more nudity whatsoever in movies? .Films of the past had all the same subjects that those of today have, - rape - infidelity - hookers, sadistic murder, etc., yet they managed to make them without the nudity.
Ah, just what is this " 'natural' nudity" you speak of?I'm obviously all for a future where nudity is fine, however, I think a societal change is necessary in the US first, - before it will actually be "natural" nudity in our films.
June Fairchild in a scene from Drive, He Said, a movie directed by Jack Nicholson.
Summary of the movie (from imdb.com)
Hector is a star basketball player for the College basketball team he plays for, the Leopards. His girlfriend, Olive, doesn't know whether to stay with him or leave him. And his friend, Gabriel, who may have dropped out from school and become a protestor, wants desperately not to get drafted for Vietnam.
Question: Is it alright or not alright that a young child this age act in such a scene?
Why?
B I N G O!For me, it depends on circumstances. Is the nudity necessary to the story, or gratuitous? Does it sexualize the child? And so forth.
Just so we're clear here, the nudity isn't child nudity, but nude adult(s) that child actors on set can see.No child nudity for the sake of money should be considered Pedophilia and criminally charged. This includes showing nude babies online or in movies. The children for the most part can not consent and aren't legally allowed to consent.
Ah ha! So that's the story behind your negative attitude toward nudity. Thanks for sharing.I know it irritates me that my mother loves to show people my nude baby picture. When I tell her I wish she would stop she laughs at me and tells me everyone does it. She always laughs about how uncomfortable I am when she does it. She never shows nude baby photos of herself though.
Since you used such and obscure example, I think you should have been clearer that it is an adult actress who is nude, the child just happens to also be in the scene.Question: Is it alright or not alright that a child this young act in such a scene?

I chose it is NOT alright, - because this is a movie, - not real life, and there is absolutely no reason to CREATE a scene where a child actor is with a nude adult actor. The movie could be made without that scene.
And just so you know, - I'm all for natural nudity in naturally appropriate places such as your own property, the beach, moms nursing in public, etc.

Guess I should have included a big red arrow pointing at the SPOILER. Next time, perhaps. Is that all we've been discussing? Jeebers, Skwim!

I'm pretty far from being a prude and agree with @IngledsvaGuess I should have included a big red arrow pointing at the SPOILER. Next time, perhaps.

Which I assume you feel they should have taken because nudity is what, icky? Nasty? Loathsome? Repellent? Vile? Appalling? Dirty? Repulsive? Yucky? Obscene? Raunchy? Or just plain Embarrassing?I would agree, many of these film makers had other options rather than nudity.
I apologize. I figured it was quite clear the female was well past puberty and had well developed "womanly parts," particularly when I had blacked out her boob and vulva areas. But what the heck, if a fellow RF member needs help who am I to deny it to them. After thisGuess you should have written more clearly -- or is that beyond you now. Come on, Skwim, you can't tell from your photo how old the girl is or whether you're referring to her or to the even younger child. .
Or just interest. I, for one, wasn't titillated by the picture, or a lot of other depictions of nudity in movies.I'm pretty far from being a prude and agree with @Ingledsva
Nudity is not a bad thing, as it were, and kids enjoy their bodies as much as adults.
The thing is when it is a totally unnecessary scene in a movie and is only featured for titillation. *snort*
