Children "witches" tortured.

Smoke

Done here.
Insulting and blaming a group of people for certain actions, especially when it is not their fault is simply called ignorant out-casting. And the Christian religion simply does not support any kind of genocide or conflict and also war. So please people, Stop blaming the Christians and stop blaming the religions when actions like these occur. It is simply the foolishness of men that leads to these events.
Sorry, but I'm not able to detach my thoughts from reality as completely as all that.

See the previous line
"Government officials also have joined the fight.
Akwa Ibom recently added a clause into the Child Rights Act, saying that anyone found guilty of branding a child a witch would get up to 12 years in prison".

On second thought... while I'm glad the law protects the children...
WHY CAN'T PEOPLE LIVE AS WITCHES IF THEY WANT TO!
OPENLY! Without fear of ignorant people abusing or slandering them!

Even here it is a societal risk to share that you are a witch publicly.
Some will brand you evil... the rest will brand you a fool.
Yet neither group will dare... or bother.... to find out what you are REALLY all about.
People fear what they don't understand

It's the reason why many are afraid of the dark as children (or even still as adults). You don't know what's there. You can't see it, so you can't comprehend it. But most people are too scared to venture out to find out. The same with different religions, beliefs, cultures, etc. It's foreign, so many people are afraid to explore them. So to simplify it in their minds, they make preconceptions about it, put it into a category, and tuck it away, so they can think about other things. Like what's on T.V. tonight.

addendum...

lol. My son told his teacher I like witches and I'm a witch.

I almost DIED laughing.

When asked by the teacher if anyone wanted anything special
to decorate their mother's day bags with,
He requested a foam witches pot (cauldron). hahaha
And out of the cauldron (which happened to be purple... lol)
my son put three purple rising hearts.

He intuits me so well. :rainbow1:
and knows my heart.....

I wonder though what her actual reaction was to that.
I like her actually. And she did bring him the cauldron.... :D

Why did you ignore my previous post? "Saying that Christians and the Christian religion is responsible for this is a nonsense idiocy; it is like saying that the Muslims are responsible for terrorism, and that black people are responsible for crime. It simply makes you a racist, an ignorant fool and a person who is consumed by hatred. In two words, you are nothing less from the people who torture the kids, you are becoming one of them." Please comment. Tell me if your logic is different.

Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images (For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.)
Exodus, Chapter 34, verses 11-14

You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.
Leviticus, Chapter 26, verses 7-9

I doubt that you have ever even read the bible.

What the F***! That is AGGREGIOUS!

I despise superstition.... and lately stupid ignorant people... more and more....

YOu tell me. Who are the evil ones here.
the christians? or the (supposed) witches.
Beating these poor children!
Taking their clothes off tying them up and beating them?!
Starved and tortured for gOd's sake.:( ***.
If any group of witches ever did anything like this to a christian child...
you all would be using much stronger language than "pretty sad" or "stupid".

no offence. But the double standard is insidious.

THIS was my statement in reaction to the article I read...
and I stand by it.

Nowhere did I blame christianity for the ENTIRETY of witch hunting in the world over.
It IS a "religious" superstition though... this fearful need to "exercise" the deamon.
I mean what athiest would FREIK OUT over a "witch"...
or even give the idea any REAL heed what-so-ever. ya know?

Father Heathen you insult Christians with the WORST WAY POSSIBLE. You quote king james bible?

Many Christians believe that KJV is the only legitimate translation, but just how different do you think the other versions of the bible are regarding those passages, anyway?

I only study the original Greek texts I do not bother with the English foolish kings and idiots. And for your information the king james bible is a disgrace to Christianity.

So in the original greek did the Hebrews have friendly, neighborly cookouts and swap meets with the Canaanites, Hittites, etc?

What? You didn't like my little story about my son?

king james bible mistranslation. also you are aware that the bible went through the English during the dark ages therefore it became actually a corrupted document.

Well tell that to all your uneducated king james reading bretheren,
who actually believe the statement, on account of the fact it's there
in their innerent bible.

For all practical purposes it really doesn't MATTER what the original Greek does or doesn't say. THIS is what people BELIEVE.
This is what CHRISTIANS believe... because it is there in the bible THEY believe in.

You must understand that the original text is in the Greek and Hebrew language and there are many mistranslations from version to version not even the oldest bibles have exactly the correct wording. You must understand that there are many errors in the new bibles and mistranslations. And also the bibles context is iconic, which means that its not literal. You must understand the meaning of the Bible not the WORDING.

Certainly, if you can convince yourself that you're studying the "original Greek text" of Exodus, you can convince yourself of anything, and the ability to believe the improbable is essential to most expressions of Christianity.
