Much ado about nothing.

This is nothing more than self-righteous back slapping at the cost of women's health.

Way to go, Lifeway.

I plan to boycott the store.

haha - I haven't darkened the door of a LifeWay in 8 years.

LifeWay has a bookstore on the campus of the seminary I attended, and there was a few times I had to buy a book there - they sold all of our textbooks.

99% of the stock at LifeWay is useless crap with a bible verse or a cross on it - it's amazing to me how gullible people are. They think that because a turd has a cross or a bible verse that somehow it is valuable and useful.

Idiots.

"Though we have assurances that Komen's funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay's core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood."

lol, what core values would that be??

Looks like my boycott will be a cinch then.

The "sanctimonious douche bag" values.

That is, anything that promotes or preserves the qualities that make one a sanctimonious douche bag.

On the contrary, I assume that most Christians would be horrified at the commercialization of Christianity's faith and practices.

I would think that the majority of Christians have the good sense to avoid establishments of this nature.

(But believe me, if I were a sanctimonious douche I would find every way that I could to make money too off of these suckers)

Sorry, but I think it's unfair to insult the intelligence of those who choose to walk into a Christian store, to purchase items focused on Christian study and lifestyle.

Where should one go?

Well, I don't mean to insult their intelligence - after all, they may well be my customer someday.

I can assume that such a person (one who patronizes an establishment that commercializes Christ) is an otherwise person of at least average intelligence who is making one poor choice.

That happens to all of us (some more than others).

So to more precisely express my opinion "Patronizing a Christian book store is one idiotic thing that a person can do, but that says nothing of their general intelligence. So in that one moment they are an idiot, and not always."

Aaaah.

Because commercialism is okay, as long as it's less direct.

Well, not all. Amazon makes no pretense about it, and the Christian bookstores do it sanctimoniously (sometimes genuine, most of the time fake).

I would think that the same piece of crap bought at Amazon and a Christian bookstore are equally crap and no one should buy it at either place.

I wasn't talking about the crap. I was talking about the important things. The average consumer, especially the consumer who isn't internet savvy, isn't going to care about where they purchase their bible from, if their intent is to pick up a bible for study.

It steamed me that they were referred to as an "idiot" if they chose a store like Lifeway. That's all I was saying.

Personally, I see no difference between purchasing from Amazon or a store like Lifeway. When you get down to the heart of it, someone is profiting on God's word. I think that the less idiotic shopper is the shopper who price compares, to be honest.

I think of Granny. She'd have me purchase online for her if she got a better deal. She don't play. :)

Yeah, I get it.

I don't really have a problem with "profiting on God's word" - indirectly or directly, that's what preachers, teachers, and scholars of the bible do. A bible is worth something because of the tremendous effort that it takes to compile and translate it. Same thing with a book.

Send granny to Barnes and Noble. :p

I am not sure I understand any of it.

Why does a christian bookstore doesn´t want to sell a bible?

...wait... is "planned parenthood" a kind of new euphemism to kill the inconvenient baby? :ninja:
