Christianity doesnt exist

ΩRôghênΩ

Disciple of Light
from personal oppinion i would say about 5% of the world are true christians while the rest just claim to be but really arent. After seeing the so-called "true christians" thrown money into a girls cleavage and beat up retarded people, as well as every where else i go in the US, i make this judgement. Thats why i like to call myself Aetherian rather than Christian (though i usually dont, and i believe christian beliefs), because i dont want to either be identified by non-christians as someone who is a bible-thumping whacko or somone who says they are a christian and then goes out and does some sort of crap

Edit:

I dont concider myself a true christian, and most of you probably arent

I don't believe that "true Christians" are necessarily the people who have learned to be Christlike. I believe that "true Christians" are those who recognize their failings and who keep trying to improve, trusting that their sincere repentence will be rewarded with forgiveness.

Exactly!

But who are you to say what a "true" Christian is? Isn't a Christian anyone that accepts Jesus Christ as his or her savior? Why is Christianity this "club" to you, where only certain people actually qualify as "true Christians?" And why do you believe the "true Christians" are only around 5% of Christians?

valid oppinion, but i think it depends on where you are.... if you have not seen every christian, you cannot say only 5% of all christians are true christians!

That's easy. Disassociation with "mainstream christians" can aid in painting oneself with a "clean slate" within popular perception. The slim amount of "purity" as seen is mostly useful when one is conveniently among the "true and truely faithful".

Why throw the baby out with the bath water. Why generalize that all who call themselves Christians really are. Being Christian is not a title, it is a way of life. If you have observed people doing things that are not Christian like then I say you have either run into a deception or someone at a bad time making a very serious mistake. Irregardless of which it is, there is still no reason to abandon ship... I wish you well...

No, i think if you throw more than just quarters you're okay, or at least i assumed that to be what he was getting at.

If you're convinced knocking out strippers with thrown change is a good excercise of christian ethics, then i must insist that you do so as often as humanly possible.

standing_alone has it right. Christianity is so spread out among different denominations that the only common fact is that they accept Jesus as their savior. So while they may not be "true catholic" or "true baptist", they are a "true christian".

I think Victor's idea of always attempting to become closer to his idea of 'the true Christian' is better than a hundred people's 'I know what a true Christian is and everyone else isn't it'.

Actually, I'm willing to bet $5 to go to Circle One's cleavage (regardless of who wins, and provided she accepts) that there are a lot more Christians than you suppose who are NOT bible thumping whackos NOR out of the ordinary hypocrits or nasty people. In fact, I'd bet the majority of Christians fall into the category of pretty decent, sincere, but naturally fallible people. But that's just my personal opinion, as you say of yours. So, the real question I have for you, Lord Roghen, is do you make allowances for people who are trying to do the best they can, but sometimes don't, or do you judge any failure to live up to the standards of Christ as reprehensible? And if the latter, do you believe that you yourself live up to the standards of Christ?

Ahhh I think what you are forgetting Lord Roghen, is that the only true Christians are Christian Wiccans. All the others are just pseudo-Jesus-worshippers who jumped on the band wagon to try and look cool.

More seriously, I do kind of sympathise with what you are saying. I have met both Christians (and now Wiccans as well) who I wish I had nothing to do with and have felt were giving the religion I'd chosen a bad name. At the end of the day, however, I feel that people do make progress in their lives and if these people are doing something wrong, then they will guilty and try and make up for it. And if they are causing suffering, we can always put a stop to it.

Lead by example for as much as you possibly can because most people will be more than willing to follow. If you challenge them then they will simply try and fight back.

Well, however much work it takes to pluck a percentage out of ones own a** - that's how much research was put in it, I bet.
