I don't have the knowledge to that, I'll check with some engineers. Don't see the point though. And lastly, I'm not going to argue with something written in Curious George and I won't do so with the Bible either.

In some article that I read, scientists created a magnetic field in a pool to part the waters. Moses must have used that for the Red Sea.

Howdy.
This is my only outlet for these types of discussion so here we go.
I was at a baptism the other day and I realized how hilarious this religion is. First off, everybody was chanting together, a room full of people singing the same thing is chanting in my books. As if this wasn't bad enough afterwards the priest starts talking real formal like about stuff from the bible I suppose, I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet... Well at least it's pretty humorous, had a hard time keeping from laughing out loud and I would have had it not been my niece's child. And to top it all off, at the end everybody touched the kid. I mean, alright, if you want to act wacky go ahead but don't do it under these silly pretenses. I'd love to hear more stories about funny religious "ceremonies". I bet there are some juicy Islamic ones.

Wow...it's oh-so-obvious that you're new here, I didn't even have to look at your Join Date. I'm not exactly sure what you find so hilarious about singing, preaching, etc. People do that every day. What's really funny here is how close-minded you are towards beliefs that are not like your own. That is a sign of ignorance my friend. So I take it back...you're not funny, you're just sad.

Not so much ridicule per se, but many Xian preachers on TV still seem to think we live in the 50's with their overdone hairdos.

Yeah, I sing every now and again but not with a bunch of nut jobs about harry potter. Usually about dancing, jive talking and nights on broadway and by myself. And I hardly ever preach :D

Why are you trying to bring religion into the realm of science? Religion is about faith in something there is no evidence for, when you try to justify events with scientific concepts you only hurt your own faith.

I suspect that is a subjective view on your part. My experience and that of many others is that prayer works. If you don't believe that prayer owrks it will not work for you. I am still working on mind over matter though. I have been schooled all my life to believe mind can't affect matter and that belief is hard to expunge.

You clearly did not read the link...

However, there are indeed thousands of cases where people are modest of the blessing through prayer and do not wish it to be dissected for proof but would rather it is accepted in faith!

It actually has a negative effect, see previous link I posted on this thread

I am extremely interested how for the most part prayer is a meditative experience and the majority of psychologists agree that any meditative practice strengthens mental health. I can quite a neo-nazi manifesto stating jews deserve to die it doesnt make it true!

First off, I have visited Iceland and it is a very fascinating and enjoyable place. Nice to have you on the forums.

Secondly, I hope you stay around for awhile so you can witness that there some very intelligent people that do hold to faith.

It might take a degree in psychology to understand how wrong this statement is. In the end, clinical psychologists would be a psychologist to make that statement and more often then not clinical psychologists do no base their ideas on evidence.

lol where do you have proof of that?!!!! Entirely ludicrous unless you are a clinical psychologist yourself!

To be honest I do not have any on hand and I take no offense for your lack of belief in my statement. If you spent time looking it up you would eventually come to the same conclusion, but at this time I have no on hand evidence that would be convincing enough to serve as proof or evidence.
And no I only have a bachelors in psychology so I would not call myself a psychologist at all, but if I were to advance my schooling I would pursue experimental psychology.

Power to you for doing so but note that those in psychology of a specified field most assuredly have training similar if not identical to yours and knowing what you do would logic not dictate they should be agreeing with you. Since there is a schism I do indeed wonder where the gap lies and should you find it please pm me the facts!
