Be yourself.
Talk about your interests, community service, extracurricular activities, and honors/awards. Tell them what you learned and how you intend to use and strengthen these skills to be successful in college and beyond.
Be breif - tell them only the bottom line information - don't include fluff.
Well I talked about my speech impediment and how I have strived to improve myself. What would constitute "fluff"?
Anyone have any useful advice for writing an essay for a college application?
Oh, and avoid using the "f' word.
Floccinaucinihilipilification?
I am curious about this? A college that would require an essay is looking for specific people. It doesn't always mean it's a good, highly credible, or prestigious university, but if they are looking for specific people, and they believe you are one of those people, it can potentially be a good college match. My advice: Apply to colleges that don't want essays.
XKatz what college are you planning on applying to if you don't mind that I ask?
I thought about going to Purdue, but the amount I would have to do to transfer is just outrageous for being a Psychology major, especially since I really suck at math. But their Liberal Arts and Computer related fields are among some of the best in not just the state, but also the nation. IU I really didn't consider mainly because I could find better in the state, but also because everyone here goes to a subdivision of IU, called Indiana University of Kokomo (IUK). The degree is as good as a degree from IU, it's a cheaper alternative when considering travel, housing (for most students, especially the younger ones who still live their parents), and tuition, but everyone goes there. Myself, I'm really hoping to go to Ball State. This is my list as of now:
-Michigan State
-U of Michigan
-Miami University (Ohio)
-Purdue
-Indiana University
-James Madison University
-Ohio State
-And possibly U of Georgia
No. Especially if you have a teacher who is like one of mine this semester. He is such a big nerd that if you even joked about that he might fail you. A rude remark about Star Wars might do the same, but he is very much indeed a Trekkie, so don't tread on that. And not too mention he is extremely intelligent so you could be in for a very long explanation on why you should not have done such a sinful act, that will cover grounds and areas that you had no idea that where even being considered or existed.Never admit it was you who got Star Trek cancelled.
Greetings. One assumes that you have combed the many forms of help that exist on the Internet but here are a couple of suggestions for consideration. Since it is really important you may wish to get professional help such as from this firm:I'm going to BUMP this thread b/c this is very important to me.
At another site, here is an essay example for PU getting help on line that looked promising but the thread has been closed. There may be other examples at this site however.Comprehensive Admission Essay and Personal Statement Assistance
