Comic Book Movies!

You know whats going to suck about the F4 films? Is that they will eventually win. In "reality" what can they really do against silver surfer, or Galactus definitely. I mean we are talking about Johnny Storm who can be put out with regular water, Ben who got the bricks knocked off him by the hulk on many occasions, can lift a few trucks but would have a very hard time dealing even with Juggarnaut, The Invisible woman (speaks for itself), and Reed who's brain is his best asset not his stretching ability.

They'll come out on top and it's gonna suck.

The next movie that needs to be done is either an Avenger movie or a Thor.

Who could play thor?

Glad to see I am not the only one of this opinion

i imagine Kevin Sorbo could pull it off.
Though I figure Hollywood would go with someone like Fabio.

Kevin Sorbo sux. I was thinking triple H although he's not very handsome in the face, his body is almost perfect. I figure the guy should be around 6'4 at the shortest, and very muscular. Not impossible if the casting director actually looks for that. Thor is an imposing figure.

They'll probably use a "nobody" like they did with Superman and Wolverine.

Or they can they can take an aging, well known actor and try to make him seem cool......like they did with Ghost Rider. :cover:

My understanding is that Marvel wants to make the individual movies of the Avenger members: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Ant Man (yes they're making an Ant Man movie) and a few others, and then make the Avenger movie. Marvel's been planning to do this for a while. They were just waiting until they could get all of the rights to the Avenger members under one studio (Paramount).

Problem is that triple H cannot act.
Please see Blade Trinity.

I am painfully aware of the terrible acting, but I was hoping against hope.

The physical attributes are worth more to me. Thor is rather stilted an having to speak as he does, should be an easy test for a new mediocre talent. Thor is not very emotional so there aren't alot of acting nuances that have to be fulfilled for that character. I think Triple could pull it off seeing as how stilted mediocre talent is what drives WWE today anyway.

Please ya'll send a prayer with me that they DO NOT MAKE AN ANT-MAN MOVIE. He sucks as is, and Stan Lee will receive a strongly worded letter if they do that. He's a lame and that's an understatement.

Don’t get me get wrong, I like Robert Downey Jr, just not as Tony Stark. Today’s superheroes movies have improved, especially in the area of costumes and special effects, so I am not as worried that these aspects will be fairly realized (a good example was Ghost Rider) but not much thought is really put into the believability of the alter egos (again, Ghost Rider is a good example). I would rather see a competent unknown actor who looks the part than an incompetent/competent well known actor who is doing it because the movie needs a star attraction or the actor needs the work.

That’s a good question and if I can think of someone I will get back to you but this is what we have to work with..

Not too happy about this. Haven't seen such a misrepresentative decision in casting since they employed “Mr. Mom” as Batman. The only thing that Robert Downey Jr. has in common with Tony Stark was that they were once substance abusers. Suit looks good though.

OK, i know I'm a little late to the party here, but what!? I am shocked that you could say this was a bad choice! If Downey Jr. was a genius billionaire, he would be Tony Stark. Even before I saw the movie, I thought he would be perfect, and now after seeing it, he was just as perfect as I imagined him to be. I cannot think a a better actor to play Stark. I would be interested to hear your take after seeing it this weekend.

You have to understand that not only am I a tremendous Tony Stark/Iron Man comics fan (from the beginning) but I also come from the generation of seeing Robert Downey Jr. in such films as Tuff Turf, The Pick-Up Artist and Johnny Be Good and none of his historical acting decisions ever shouted Tony Stark (or Iron Man) to me.

Having said that, I have cruised the reviews and many of them mention that he is quite good (if not a little too short) as Tony Stark and I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (regardless of what critics say) and I will let you know what I thought of his performance.

I cannot wait for Thor. Aside from Spidey, he is my favorite Marvel hero. I just hope they do him well. His new book is amazing so far.
Let us pray to Zeus that they do not ground Thor but that they incorporate and properly realise the mythological aspects of Asgard and the legends that inhabit it.

Sounds good. I'll wait with bated breath.
