Communism is a system of government that is extreme in socialism. State owns all, and everyone gets what they need, not want.
It destroys incentives to work harder because you dont gain anymore reward. You only get what you need.
Countries that try communism always wish they haddent.
Its well intended toward the poor, but in practice, it destroys the poor and makes everyone else poor too.

To me, it is the epitome of capitalism. The very wealthy have 99% of the wealth and the other people live in poverty and are controlled by the very wealthy.

This is insane troll logic in a nutshell
Communism and Socialism are used interchangeably to refer to the essentially the same economic/political philosophy. In reality these are two different philosophies that while having some similarities also have some very stark differences. Understanding the similarities and the differences can be useful in terms of appreciation the nuances of Communism vs. Socialism.

Except for the elites who benefit from it all, and have unprecedented power and personal freedom catered toward themselves at the expense and detriment of others.
It's why socialism is a very very bad policy for the common citizen who inevitably lines up with pretty much no freedom or wealth and is made dependent with a life of servitude to the whims
of the state whether they like it or not.

No, if you think about it, the top people love money, have the money, keep the money, don't give the money to the poor people. They also take control, keep control, tell the poor people how to live and that they need to work but for limited wages. It is the highest form of capitalism. If capitalism did not include greed, it would be a good thing. People should be able to excel based on their abilities but many people are held back by little things like poverty, lack of education, having to go to work because they have to try to survive, etc. We are not so different from the communists. I hope that we will be one day and that everyone will have a chance in life.
