You look like a cute car bear though. How could that bear with its kind look get so angry? :p

Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
Compassion is part of love, and we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.

However, any virtue pursued at the expense of others quickly becomes a vice. For example, to pursue compassion without pursuing justice or responsibility is not loving and is harmful. Allow me to illustrate.

Recently my autistic son moved into a home owned by an extremely compassionate Taoist who rented at a low rate so that my son could afford the room on his disability. All good so far. But then this man ran across an alcoholic/drug addict whom he wanted to help. When this drug addict got out of rehab, he stole over $1000 from the man to pay for drugs. The man not only forgave him, but decided to move him into his home. The tenants were worried about being robbed and the problems caused by having an addict in the home, and when they approached the man about it they were all given 30 days notice. To be fair, they were offered rooms in a different home, but it is basically a ghetto house that is not worth the rent. Because my son is loved, he was allowed to stay, and is now living in a high risk environment.

This is what happens when someone has compassion run amok, when they do not have the best interest of a person at heart (which would hold the addict responsible for his behavior).

Baha'i
How do you view compassion in your life toward other living beings?

There's a excerpt from the Writings that exemplifies I believe the Baha'i ideal:

"His breezes refresh the whole earth. It is evident that humankind without exception is sheltered beneath His mercy and protection. Some are imperfect; they must be perfected. The ignorant must be taught, the sick healed, the sleepers awakened. The child must not be oppressed or censured because it is undeveloped; it must be patiently trained. The sick must not be neglected because they are ailing; nay, rather, we must have compassion upon them and bring them healing. Briefly; the old conditions of animosity, bigotry and hatred between the religious systems must be dispelled and the new conditions of love, agreement and spiritual brotherhood be established among them."
