I hated that about England too. And once Christmas is over it's time for them to push Easter
Once Christmas is over here in the U.S. they begin to push Valentine's day, which is another heavily commercialized holiday, and then to a lesser extent St. Patrick's Day (mostly an excuse to drink and party. Same with Cinco de Mayo), and then Easter. I'm surprised we haven't stolen Guy Fawkes day yet.

Might be time to turn on the heat?
The thermostat is set at 64 (which is 2° higher than he usually has it) but the app on my phone says it's 52° in the house.

I just tried to check the furnace but I'm not sure how to do that. The metal in the furnace is cold, but it looks like you need a key to check the pilot light.

Anyway, I don't smell gas so I'm not too worried about it.

Well, that's a pain...

I hate furnace maintenance.

I just don't want to blow my brother's house up. I have some of my stuff stored here.

Hey! It's snowing!
(Outside. Not inside. Not enough humidity inside).
Ok, he just got home from his trip. Turns out he didn't have the furnace turned on ( it was in the 70s farrenheit when he left).

It was 48° in here when he got home, which means it was in the low 40°s in here this morning.

And I thought I was just being a California weather whimp.

For the only reason needed, because it can
I realized it's karmic payback for the times in past lives I refused to scratch an itch on my partner.
I can't speed time. I'm not a miracle worker. I'm just a mild mannered housewife with a strange sense of humor.

There's also the masochistic element of being a mod and trying to deal with all of us rule benders and line pushers.

They have not (yet) commercialized el Día de los Muertos but our local high school noted it coming soon on it's electronic bulletin board

Yeah, you wouldn't want to damage any of your stuff.

I was going to ask if it was turned on, but didn't want to imply you hadn't checked the obvious.

Next time I will.

Compared to the rule bending and line pushing that occurs in my own home, the forum moderation tend to be a pleasant afternoon stroll through the park.
