Those who fight corruption should be clean themselves.

You've heard the call: "Drain the Swamp! Drain the Swamp!" We've heard Comrade Trumpsky first praise Putin, defend the Russians over hacking us, telling us that they didn't do it, and in the last few days he says we need to be business partners. It seems that the swamp draining is his wan of making room for the Russkies.
  • Why do you think he has such a hard on for Putin?
  • Why don't the Republicans seem to care?
  • How far do you think he'll take this?
  • How far will we let him take it?
  • Will this be Comrade Trumpsky's undoing?
Caveat: This is not about Obama or the Clintons. Start your own thread for that.

I'm also perplexed by Trump supporting Russia when he openly opposes China and North Korea.

I'm not seeing the difference.

Oh for heaven's sake...get over it already. I think you have beaten the dead horse enough since the election.

Now you know how everyone else felt during the election.

Tell me about it. We all know Hillary was corrupt, ignored a federal subpoena and destroyed evidence. But she and the media left wouldn't stop trying to spin it into something other than criminal actions in order to save face.

Good luck with that! Conservatives and their supporters know damn well they can't defend Trump, so they try to make every thread about Clinton.

Your notion the issue is dead is most likely as far from the truth as a typical Trump statement. But do carry on.

If the left would move on, it would be dead.

I didn't see too many pro-Trump threads started after the initial week or two of gloating. I think the rest of us are just waiting to see what it will be like.

If it is not about Obama or Hillary then why did you posted a filthy nasty goat smelling Hillary's supporter like Alec Balwin at the bottom of your post?

I asked nicely for this thread to not be trolled, and they do it anyway. Incredibly frustrating to have an intelligent conversation and I think this is a an important topic. But then, they do just what Trump would have done. They imitate their leader's bad habits which is going to be a big issue for us.

Any in depth study of Soviet/Russian politics includes their use of "компрома́т" It's pronounced "Com-pro-mat" with the accent on the last syllable and it essentially means compromising evidence. We would call it leverage or even black mail here in the USA, but it almost never involves money. If you have компрома́т then you have power over the next guy. But then, they might have it over you as well in a osrt of detente. If you have enough компрома́т then you get to write your own ticket, much like Putin has done. However, having some great компрома́т over the wrong person can also get you killed.

Why is this important?

Putin now has a huge amount of компрома́т on Comrade Trumpsky. He's sucked him in to the Soviet (not really the Russian) way of politics. No, компрома́т does not have to be true. You have to be able to convince others that it's true. In that regard, Comrade Trumpsky has embraced the ideology of smearing your opponents with компрома́т in hopes that the stupids will buy into it. They obviously have.

Think about this for a moment... Comrade Trumpsky will be reticent to oppose Putin on anything now. Why? All Putin has to say is that Comrade Trumpsky encouraged them to hack the RNC and all hell will break loose here in the USA. True or not, that kind of declaration would have far reaching consequences not only on the White House, but on the RNC who have traditionally been the biggest critics of the Russkies.

As I pointed out, компрома́т works both ways. Unfortunately, Comrade Trumpsky has nothing on Putin at this point. Ничего, пустяк и кое-что, точно таком порядке! (Nothing, nada and squat in precisely that order!)

Russia conquered USA without firing a single shot lmao.
Precisely. We always conceived of this involving a war on several fronts. Cubans from below and Russia from the west and the North Pole. Red Dawn was a movie based on those fears. But all it took was a шут, a "shoot" or a joke of a man to bluff his way into power and then promote Russia above all else.

FWIW, I majored in Russian at the UofF during the cold war. They have always fascinated me, but I never expected anything like Comrade Trumpsky.

Hey, you.....what's the alien perspective on Trump being an agent of Putin?
I think it is a bit extreme given how little we know. But what do I know, I have been stuck on this rock for 40 years and have yet to figure out how to leave. (Despite my best efforts.)

Right, I am trying to keep an open mind. It's tough with all of the media swarm.
Tis best to avoid all the speculation, & instead focus upon things Trump actually effects.
The problem is that this leaves us with little to discuss, since he hasn't assumed office yet.
