Scavengers act out of necessity, not logic. You can't expect someone to act logically at first. With time someone should realize that all paths to salvation are valid.

"Gods" are a projection of our own egos (and everything it entails, like dominance and control), so not worshiping someone's god their way is a slap to their face. So things turn into a competitive power struggle.

It is logical that there is a god. All religions in the world have a strong degree of logic, so if you like a religion and can put your faith in it you should. I'm just saying that someone should acknowledge that their religion is as good as the next guy's.

But would that be honest? Would a religion that teaches love, peace and compassion be "just as good" as a religion that teaches you to wage war, rape, pillage and plunder and to eat the flesh of your enemy's children as a sacrifice to the blood god?

I do believe that man created "God", but if god is a projection of our egos then there could be no selfless religious person. That's not the case.

You have asked a very interesting and also profound question. I only hope you will consider the answer I give you, for it could mean your everlasting life.
True religion does not persecute anyone. Jesus said that his disciples would be know for the love they show, John 13:34,35, Rom 13:8-10. Jesus disciples would be ready to die for each other, 1John 3:16.
This means that any religion that does persecute belongs to false religion !!!
Consider the description of false religion. Notice that this false religion does exactly what you are talking about, Rev 17:5,6. This religious Harlot is riding on the back of the political powers, the beasts of Revelation. She is dressed as a great religious leader, with purple and scarlet, with all kinds of precious stones, Rev 17:3,4.
How do we definitely identify this Harlot as false religion???
There are only three major entities, that make up the system we live in,Politics, Commerce, and Religion. Notice Rev 18:3 mentions all three, first mentioned is Babylon the Great=Religion, Second Politics= the Kings of the earth, Third is commerce.
Notice that the Kings of the earth have committed Fornication with Her, Babylon the Great. What other entity has ridden on the back of Politics, trying to help the Politicians to accomplish their goals, as long as they let her have her position??? Only Religion has had that place. Notice that Babylon THe Great is called that great city that had a kingdom over the Kings of the earth, Rev 17:18. What other group could be swsaid to have a kingdom over the politicians, but religion.
One of the major activities of false religion over the years is the persecution of true Christians. Consider the Inquisitions, the crusades, and all the religions that are causing so much triuble in the world today. These are all part of false religion- Babylon the Great, Rev 18:21-24.
Consider also Rev 18:4, which says to get out of her my people. There is no reason to get out of the commercial entity, but the Political entity and false religion have been committing fornication with each other all through history.
Notice what is the end of Babylon the Great, Rev 17:12-15. The entire 18th chapter tells about the final destruction of Babylon the Great, 18:7-10, 15-17, 18-20.
True religion has never, and will never persecute anyone, but false religion has a history of persecution that goes back to the beginning of men building governments.
A fitting name indeed is THE HARLOT, because she had caused, in one way or another, all the spilling of blood that has been done on earth. What a fitting name for an organization who has misrepresented the true God, all down through history.

It means our everlasting life that we find the one true religion. Religion is not like going to a store and finding something that YOU like. You must search and find the only true religion that GOD approves, Rom 10:2,3, Eph 4:4-6.
One thing you will never find the true religion doing is persecuting other persons because of their religion. Only false religion persecutes others. Look down throughout all history, it has always been false religious leaders who fomented persecution. Remember the crusades, the inquisitions, the witch hunts. All were false religious leaders who brought the most horrific torture in alll history.
Jesus said you would know his disciples by the LOVE they would have, John 13:34,35. True Christians will even die for each other, not fight each other, 1John 3:16. You will never find a true Christian in the military. If Christians in other Countries also joined the military, they could find themselves killing the very disciples that Jesus died to save, 1Cor 8:11, 2Cor 10:3-5, 2Tim 2:24-26.
Just the opposite of what many people believe, it is the true Christians who have always been persecuted, 1Thes 2:14-16. Remember what Jesus said; Jesus said : If they persecuted me thay will persecute you also, John 15:18-21. Paul even tells us that ALL Christians WILL be persecuted, 2 Tim 3:12.
Notice how Luke makes an easy distinction between the true and the false, Luke 6:22-25---- 26.
A person must make sure he is in the true religion, because all those in the true religion will be persecuted, and most people will not keep integrity under persecution, especially if they cannot prove to themselves the will of God, Rom 12:2, Heb 5:11-14, Phil 1:9,10, Col 1:9,10.
Remember that Jesus said only a few will be saved, Matt 7:13,14, Luke 13:23,24.
