Condemning homosexuality

Jaymes

The cake is a lie
Do people really realize how hurtful it is to condemn a part of someone's life? Is it out of ignorance or hate that people do such things? Do they just not understand how much stuff like this hurts?:

I alternate between being apathetic about stuff like this, anger, and hurt. Right now I'm hurt. What is doing crap like that changing? I don't look at that and think "Holy crap, I was wrong! I'd better pretend to be straight now." I think "Why on earth are you being so hurtful?"

This was more of a rant than anything, but I'd like views from you guys on the matter.

That stuff is just wrong. I am sorry that you are hurt by this Jensa.

While I am sure you know my views, I hope you know I don't agree with this.

I personally think that they don't realize anything at all, but that the general concept behind it is that being GLBTO makes you subhuman, and as such, it doesn't affect us. The other idea is probably that if that's what it takes to make us turn from our ungodly ways, that's their duty as a Christian.

Which is sick and convoluted - "It's my duty to hurt these people, because I'm trying to lead them to the Kingdom"

I think it provides decent Judeo-Christians (i.e., the overwhelming majority) with a daunting educational challenge and a beautiful housekeeping opportunity.

I think some people never grow up. I remember back in school, how hurtful some kids where. They might have matured in age, but not mentality. Look into the mirror, hold your head up and be proud of who you are. To thine own self be true, and anyone else that judges you for anything else other then what's inside you can go to he** in a hand basket.

If they want to get their message across, they are definitely going about it the wrong way. They are not showing a very Christ-like attitude in their action and words.

They're taught to hate. And, at least, that means there's hope that it will eventually change. Just imagine if people were born like this.

You make an excellent point here that a lot of people who pull that sort of crap don't realize. These people probably think that they are going to reach people like this and are completely ignorant to the fact that it does absolutely no good at all to do stuff like this.

An interesting point I once heard from a pastor was about those WWJD braclets and stuff that was a fad for awhile. The point he made was that a lot of people don't realize that it is a question that needs answering, not just something kewl to wear. Did Jesus live around those who practiced homosexuality? It wouldn't take much study into the history of the culture of His day to figure out the answer was an obvious "yes". Have we ever read anything about Jesus holding up signs protesting that homosexuality is wrong and that people who practice homsexuality are going to hell? If there is, I would sure like to know about it.

Sincerely,
SoliDeoGloria

i am not a fan of homosexuality at all, but at the same token i could care less if this is the way someone whats to live their life. so long as they and straight couples are not showing affection in public it makes no difference to me. the last thing i want to see is a couple making out in my eyesight.

I'm not a fan of heterosexuality. I actually think it's kinda gross. But nothing could anger me to the point of pulling something like that.

What do you define as public display of affection, though? Holding hands? Hugging? Kissing, making out, what? That's a broad term.

Being gay hurts nobody. Theft does. It gets really tiring to have two consenting adults compared to thieves, paedophiles, adulterers and the like.

I am not sure about the context of those pictures. The second picture at least doesn't mention homosexuals so I guess it is supposed to be obvius from the situation. Where thease people objecting to some kind of gay pride festival? If so, then the holder of that sign may end up being arrested by the police for holding that sign if he did it where I live. We did recently have a case where a pastor where charged for his anti gay speech in his preechings but he got of the hook, some leeway are allowed for sermons but had he did it outside his church he would probably been convicted.

Yea, sorry I didn't mention the situation... I was rather upset when I posted this.

From the original site:

"On March 4, 2004, several Gay/Lesbian couples and activist went to Chicago's City Hall to obtain marriage licenses to become legally married in the state of Illinois. They were met with loud anti-gay protesters. They were also met with a letter from David Orr stating they were not allowed to apply for a license. They marched through the streets chanting "Gay,Straight,Black,White...Legal marriage is our Right". "

Why would they march to the city hall to get marriage liscenses, if they could not get them. Or was it symbolic of what they want?

Im not homosexual, but I think protest against homosexuals is wrong.
I laugh at that old person holding the "Aids is the cure" sign, since it was proven many years ago that AIDS isn't a "gay" virus.
