Contradictions in the Bible

Post #(781) where?

No, I showed you that there were two Ahaziah's and two Athaliah's. If you want to believe it is a contradiction and it makes you feel good about denying the Bible as the Word of God, go ahead. There are apparent contradictions I have no answer for. So, feel free to use that to deny the Bible is from God.

Good-Ole-Rebel
Or another contradiction about the same two people.

I know. You said you just ignore the contradictions you cannot address and pretend they are not there. That is pretty much what most CLF's do.

Most of the people I know have higher standards than this god. Honorable people don't lie just because their truths are rejected.

Look at the quote above. You called your god a liar in the second sentence. You know what a liar is, don't you? It's anybody who knowingly deceives. If I send you a lie, you can call me a liar, and I reserve that right even when considering alleged gods.

You have no truth. You're a faith-based thinker, and faith is not a path to truth. Do you consider your god actual? Then you do so by faith, since you not only have no evidence that the Christian god exists, but must ignore compelling evidence to the contrary that it cannot exist given that is said to have mutually exclusive properties at the same time - a logical impossibility. You have been lied to by the Bible's writers. Atheists see through the lies.

Even without this compelling evidence against the Christian god's existence, if faith is a path to truth, one can simply reject the claim by faith and have as good an argument and as much truth as you have.

Just so you know, when you make blanket, bigoted statements demeaning the intelligence and integrity of all atheists - a class of mostly law-abiding, hard-working people trying to raise their families and make their communities better - you earn the contempt of those people, and invite a similar review of your religion and the effect it would have on anybody that would listen to and assimilate its hatreds. Christianity brings me nothing of value to me, but it does generate millions of bigots and poor thinkers demeaning people like me for having the sense and strength to avoid the pitfall of hating by faith.

We are not talking about people. We are talking about God. And, you are just that...a people. But He is God. So, save your 'higher standards' speech for another.

I have never called God a liar. God sends the lie to those who reject the Truth. Does that bother you? ...apparently so.

Sorry, but God has made 'faith' the only path to know Him. You can believe your 'evidence' all you want. But your evidence doesn't find God. My faith does.

Then reject it. You haven't done nothing to me. You haven't taken anything away from God. Reject it.

Aw poor you. You feel demeaned. If it isn't true why do you feel demeaned? I don't feel demeaned by any here who question and slander and vilify my faith in Christ. Why, because I know the Truth.

"Truth" isn't a thing...

I have explained it many times already. The lie exists already. God speaks and brings the Truth to man. When man rejects that Truth, He then sends the lie.

The difference is the lie is not of God. But when you reject the Truth of God, that God gives, then He gives you the lie. It is what you want.

Good-Ole-Rebel
Yes, but you see, God NEVER SENT ME ANY TRUTH. He might (and I use that word MIGHT with great care) have sent some truth to somebody long ago, but has given me no particular reason why I should believe that person over any other -- who are all replete with supposed "truths" of their own. Thus, it is incorrect to say, "God told A 2400 years ago such-and-such" and at the same time God sent ME the truth. He did not. Nor did he you, since you have actually no more reason to believe A than all the other presenters of their own "truths." That's a personal choice you've made yourself.

I never saw your answer to my question about someone sending your wife evidence that you cheated on her. Did that person lie?

Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! I know. Pick me. I know the answer.

I am curious to see how he thinks that the ends are different. But then he does not seem to know how to quote the Bible correctly. Or even how to link his claims.

I saw his "refutation" I t appears that he did not understand the verses that he referred to. He did nothing more than that.

I offered half a dozen verses of the Bible that state that you are wrong and God does not lie. Scripture son. It's right there in the scripture.
You mean your distraction from the fact that you cannot justify your position that God lies based on the verses I posted? No. I see no reason to react to your diversions.

My view in response to your question in post # (610) was (Job 1:6-12). Which you have yet responded to. So everything else you have to say is just smoke and fog to cover up that you were wrong.

Of course you could prove me wrong by addressing said verses.

Who sends lies? Liars send lies. If you claim God sends lies, you are calling God a liar.

Why would anyone feel bad for being questioned about a subject they claim to know or believe in? Is it your view that merely questioning the Bible demeans it?

You made some post about Satan that is not germane to defending your position that God lies. I showed you scripture that you are wrong, but you ignored that and persist in this. Now you are doing your creationist/literalist/fundamentalist best to twist this into me running from you. You must be shooting over your shoulder as you run away. History repeats itself Good-Ole-Rebel.

Are these different Ahaziah and Athaliah part of the mirror universe of Star Trek? Where did you do this wondrous feat?

Recognition of contradictions is not denying the Bible as the source of Christian theology, but it does represent the fact that it was written by and compiled by people who are flawed.

I already showed you. Go back and reread. Or read.

If people do not believe the Truth, then He will send the lie.

Good-Ole-Rebel
This would make more sense if the contradictions didn't exist in the Bible prior to anyone of us alive today reading it. Using your logic, the Bible is full of lies and truths and for some reason you feel that you can tell them apart, but are unable to share that skill.

For me, the existence of contradictions do not change how I believe. Apparently for you, they mean you must draw irrational conclusions that are against scripture in order to explain their existence.

Sorry, but He did. The Truth is Jesus Christ just as the Bible says. You can claim ignorance all you want, but on that day, it will not matter.

So you are now claiming to know the mind and actions of God. How do you know what God has done or not done that is outside of the claims of the Bible?

I said, I don't feel demeaned. Others were whining about being demeaned. Your unbelief takes nothing away from me or God.

For that matter, how do you know what other people have and have not experienced?
