Are you saying that God's offering forgiveness to anyone is immoral, even if they repent and change their ways?
Why are you saying that? It sounds like it is because it is offending you, someone who does not believe in Jesus.
The victim may be offered an apology or restitution by the perpetrator if that is possible. Sometimes it is not possible.
Jesus does give the story of Zachaeus the tax collector and shows what true repentance should entail.
But as I said, that is not always possible.
Then it’s as I said, the perp is actually benefitting by receiving God’s forgiveness for his terrible actions, while the victim gets no restitution and no benefits. The victim may or may not get an apology? Seriously? Can you explain to me why you consider this moral?
It is true that the victim might not receive eternal life but that would show that the victim was also a perpetrator of many evil acts also with no repentance and no forgiving those who did evil against them.
Yeah, that’s totally immoral.
So a guy murders my entire family. This guy asks sincerely asks God for forgiveness. And now he gets to spend eternity in heaven. There is no punishment for his actions, and in fact, he’s actually being rewarded instead. By this method, Jeffrey Dahmer is sitting pretty in heaven for all eternity, because he sincerely repented. All of his victims are still dead, having been tortured and eaten. All of those victims’ family members still have to walk the earth, trying to get on with their lives somehow. Good thing our legal system isn’t as immoral as your God is, and these victims actually did receive some restitution. That’s more than your God would seem to afford them.
Then there’s the victim – my entire family is still dead. I’m going to suffer for the rest of the my entire life. Now I can’t afford the home we lived in, because I don’t have a spouse to help pay the bills. Now I am traumatized, depressed and suicidal and require psychiatric care that I cannot afford. And you’re going to tell me that I don’t deserve any restitution or benefit or anything at all (oh,
maybe an apology if I’m lucky) because maybe I’ve sinned and haven’t repented? Are you kidding me? While the guy who killed my whole family is dancing around in heaven for all eternity? You seriously think this is a moral system??
I don't see the Bible as teaching that only Christians gain eternal life. That is something that Jesus decides at the judgement. It is Jesus who is the judge and so everyone has to go through Him to get to the Father and cannot get there any other way.
Well, that’s the story in the old book, anyway.
So Jeffrey Dahmer get up there and I get up there, and what is Jesus going to say to us, I wonder?
Which sounds like you are saying that God should be forcing everyone now to do what is right instead of allowing people freedom and judging them later.
Sounds like you’re trying to dodge my point.
