Negative spirits cannot be told to leave they must be forced by changes within oneself.

Spirits attach themselves to people, the only way to force them to go is by believing in a higher spirit that is protecting you.

These all sound like things a possessed person would do.

In my experience, demons aren't bullies as much as vampires, of a sort. They feed off you. A statement comes to mind: "How do you get rid of a vampire? Stop feeding it."
