Death being final degrades and insults our humanity

Because you could still say that life itself has treated you poorly. This would pertain to natural processes. Even if there were no way for life itself or any natural process to treat me poorly, it would still be insulting, degrading, a lack of respect, and a lack of dignity to me as a person to just throw me away.
Who (or what) do you think it is that would be "throwing you away?"

Think about it this way - no one asked your permission to bring you into this world. You didn't get a say, or a choice, or get to dictate or negotiate terms. Why do you feel that you are owed such processes when on the way out of this world?

The natural process of dying would be "throwing me away." I use that quoted phrase metaphorically since no one and nothing is actually throwing me. I use that quoted phrase to denote the notion that, once I die, I will just rot, decay, and that will be the end of me.

Because gawd has never taken the time to demonstrate that he actually exists?
I think Romans 1:19,20 applies: "what may be known about God is clearly evident among them, for God made it clear to them. For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they ["men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way" vs. 18] are inexcusable."

Impressive rhetoric made to embolden believers and intimidate non-believers; unfortunately it is only rhetoric for what may be known of god is obviously not clear, as evident from the multitude of unclear notions of gad.

You are right in saying that respect is earned and not handed out. I think I have earned it just from the simple fact that I am kind towards my family and others out in the community. I do not harm, torture, judge, or condemn others. This, alone, makes me worthy of respect and dignity.
One wonders why there are so many who disagree with you?
