Is being a philosopher an excuse for a lack of humor? I think it could be argued that philosophers, of all people, ought to have a sense of humor. How can you really negotiate these things without one? Khalil Gibran, "Keep me away from...the philosophy which does not laugh...." I know there are some serious philosophers -- like Ayn Rand, if you can call her a philosopher -- who lacked humor, but I have never considered most of them to be among the most profound of our kind. Other than that, I have no opinion in the matter.
