Defend Marriage Between a Man and a Woman!

I read this thread and was in disbelief at some of the pure ignorance and bigotry spewing out of some of the replies (not to mention the original post).

I'm only slightly comforted by knowing that gay marriage will leave us with yet another example of religion playing catch-up with society. It's only a matter of time before Christian doctrine is reinterpreted and the Christian god is suddenly okay with gays.

Thank *god* the gaywithoutgod community has spring up and joined the fight in holding religious thinking accountable for its damage to society.

Marriage is important to society for many reasons, but mainly because it is the basis of families, which society is based on.

Please provide evidence of this. It is not true now, nor has it ever been true. During the majority of history marriage was about either ones status in society or the sale of property, girls being the property of their fathers. Society's desired people to marry and have children purely for the sake of expanding the numbers of that society. They didn't care about the family dynamic at all, just the numbers that could defend the society in times of need.

Your view of marriage is one of romance novels rather than historical fact and your views on homosexual marriage are based on hatred rather than scientific fact. Homosexuality is not a fetish and your continued use of the term in relation to sexual orientation is insulting and offensive. You know this and your continuing to use the term is little more than passive aggressive bullying.

Big Queer Chesticles!
First thing I want to say is I havent read every post because there are waaaaay too many.

All I want to say is...I get sick of seeing this types of opinions being vomited all over the place by people who seem to be missing the point when it comes to sexuality in the first place. Most people who feel the need to voice these opinions usually have little to no contact with gay people.

I also get sick of the majority thinking they know everything about the minority and feel they have the right to make these kinds of decisions for them based on little to no fact.

Finally - being a good wife/husband/parent has little to do with which bits you have.
