Feverishly?

Aren't you the classical liberal? Ya know, like Jefferson and Washington? The people who supported slavery and genocide, as long as wealthy white men* could demand Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?

Greed:
I don't believe that fettering greed (ie, desire for money or power) is possible.
Instead, fetter behavior, eg, no stealing, no ruining the environment, no monopolies.

Stealing:
We're going to tolerate some stealing, at the very least from government taxing
us to do desirable things. We should not tolerate stealing which fails us, eg,
taxing us to wage useless wars, to imprison vast segments of the population.
We should enjoy our greed within the useful rules of the game.

Capitalism vs communism vs socialism:
My views are perhaps a smidgeon less black & white than you think.
Capitalism is wonderful. But the political reality is that we need some
regulation of it. An advantage of it is that it enables enuf taxation to
achieve desired social goals, eg, guaranteed income, health care.

Marx:
He'd fit right in on RF....all criticism....terrible proposals....no real world solutions.
He's a loonie gadfly so dangerous that he makes even L Ron Hubbard look good.
(That one was fun.)

Capitalism sucks. Every few years there's a "crisis" that isn't supposed to happen. Just look at the numbers:

Obviously you have the "I have mine screw everyone else" mentality. But for the average bloke making the median wage capitalism is only good for the people who pay the lobbyists.

I think George Carlin said it best, "There's a reason":

Just because you got yours don't pretend this system is great for everyone. It isn't.

I disagree. There are laws designed to enslave men. There are laws designed to set them free. There are laws designed to create cartels and monopolies. And there are laws designed to preserve free-markets. The idea we just can't pass good laws therefore economic slavery is okay is just a cop-out.

Slavery under our in our country's capitalism still
beats slavery under the competing non-capitalist
systems.
Of course this is just my personal preference...&
also the preference of all the N Ameristanians,
Scandinavians, & others who aren't moving to
Venezuela, Cuba, or N Korea.

I even looked at history by surveying my family
members who fled communist countries to move
here vs the reverse. I'd calculate the ratio of the
former to the latter, but dividing by zero is undefined.
