Depression

Da man, when I walk thru!
You can either "gamble" with the chances of getting better... or do nothing and have no chances of getting better.

I'll take the one where I have a chance in Hell that I might get better.

Have you ever tried meditation?

What kind of meditation do you use?
Primarily Tibetan chant. Believe me, it is incredibly powerful. My favourite is Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha, which calls upon the Green Tare, who is related to the Quan-yin Godhead (which is actually Hindu—Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism seem to overlap in some areas as I understand it).. A chant of emotional and spiritual healing. Chants calm me, but they do not necessarily ease my pain.

I also sometimes use a somewhat Pagan approach—along the lines of Nature worship. I will simply calm myself, try to empty My mind. I do this in a hot bath, as I am a water sign, and I feel closely related to the water affinity. Besides, a hot bath is just plain relaxing. Often I see "visions," though I tend to interpret this as My subconscious. "Visions" give Me inspiration, but again, that can only keep My depression at bay for so long. I also used to practice meditation with yoga, but I have not performed yoga for quite some time. I do not have a good space to do it in.

I am hoping to look into Satanic rituals more. I know nothing of them. Particularly the ones I can use to release anger.

Have you ever tried other forms of meditation before? The key, for me atleast, is always finding new ways to meditate, and incorporating them with my practice. If one isn't particularly working for me at a particular time I switch to another one. I use like a million different techniques from different disciplines. I am way too adhd to use just one technique.

I'm not practicing ritual meditation now.

Why did you stop, if you don't mind me asking?

Have either of you tried meditating with the intent of treating your depression?

I never did practice ritual meditation, at least aside from Catholic meditations and when I would take some quiet time as a teenager.

Would you mind giving examples on what you mean when you say "types" of meditation? I am not following.

Meditation can calm me in the moment, but the overall battle against depression and addiction definitely requires active magick.

Active being the operative word here. Exercise of any kind can be quite helpful along with your other methods of dealing with depression. Go ride your bicycle, or go running, dancing, kick boxing, aerobic exercise, or whatever active movement that gets your heart rate going on a regular basis can really charge up your other strategies for dealing with depression.

If you really like meditation, you can practice mindfulness meditation during your exercise for an added boost.

You said you didn't practice ritual meditation now, so I thought that you might have at one time.

Interestingly enough considering my general disposition toward the Catholic Chuch, one of my favorite prayers/meditations is the prayer of St. Francis, but I put my own little twist on it to suit my needs.

Would you mind giving examples on what you mean when you say "types" of meditation? I am not following.

8 Basic Kinds of Meditation (And Why You Should Meditate On Your Heart)

Just to start, but there are so many different types of meditations it's not even funny. Off the top of my head.

1. 7 - 12 chakra meditations depending on the system, each with their own unique alterations and benefits.

2. Silva ultramind methods - what I personally started with and still a fave to this day.

3. Mindfulness, Transcendental, Zen

4. Standing Tree meditation

5. Thunder gut meditation - a deep breathing technique - one of my personal faves as well.

6. Remote viewing

7. Astral Projection

8. Body awareness meditation - gets especially interesting, for me atleast, when you can focus on different activating different parts of the brain.

9. Mantra and Tantra

10. Qi Gong and other Chi based Variants

There's to many to list, within all these different types there are 100s if not thousands of variations. Basically within meditation, you are only limited to what your mind can concieve, since meditation itself is contained within the mind. That's part of the allure for me. It's something that you can never really master so it alway keeps you pursuing it. Also, meditation has been shown to cause permanent brain "restructuring", so you can literally change the way your brain functions.

Meditation appears to produce enduring changes in emotional processing in the brain

And this is something I have found very interesting as well. It's not neccesarily meditation, and it is definitely "out there", but is based, in theory at the least, on a legitamte scientific basis. It's just the question of whether you can actually control this or not, which other studies have shown you can to some degree. I have garnered some interesting results from practicing different variants of this technique.

Meditation is just like any form of excercise in my opinion. You have to practice it on a regular basis to garner any significant results. Meditation has been shown to demonstrated permanent changes in brain function, but just like lifting weights you have to do it on a regular basis if you wanna get swhole lol. Active magick is meditation in my opinion.

Playing basketball was my first from of meditation, and it helped me get over the worst depression I ever experienced in my life. I hold a special place in my heart for the sport, and I personally view it so much more than just a sport.

Ok, I will start by stating that I have used the following from your list:

1. Chakras
3. Zen
5. I often use a method similar to "Thunder gut"
9. Mantras
10. Chi

Remote viewing and Astral projection are the same, as I understand it, and I don't really believe in them.

Body awareness meditation is pretty much a guaranteed way to throw Me into a panic attack.

Something doesn't necessarily have to objectively exist for the concept to affect you.

Why does body awareness give you panic attack?

Body awareness meditation is pretty much a guaranteed way to throw Me into a panic attack.
Why is that so? If you don't mind me asking. It has been my experience that a solid awareness of your body puts you at a tremendous advantage with others. And the deeper you know yourself, and how and why you interpret the world, the more powerful you are and the easier it is to take charge of your life aware of what is actually affecting you and how it effects you.
And of course it can mean facing your demons. But sometimes we find out these demons are only Ourselves, and we have laid Ourselves to rest and remained silent because society told us to even though there is no real reason to let Ourselves sleep.
And then sometimes, such as with addiction, the demons are real. But the end result of self empowerment is the same.

St. Francis of Assisi is my namesake, actually.

Which ones do you like the best? Do you practice any of them regularly? Meditation is like lifting weights, if you only lift weights once a month your not going to see much results, but if you do it regularly for a couple of weeks you will see noticeable results.

Thunder gut is by far the best, in my opinion, for quick stress relief. Everytime I get stressed I do thunder gut and it makes everything better. :D

Remote viewing and Astral projection are the same, as I understand it, and I don't really believe in them.

Remote viewing is seeing the place in your minds eye, astral projection is actually putting yourself in the place.

I have had limited success with astral projection, but I have literally seen an image of greek ruins with my eyes closed that was more real than me looking at something with my real eyes. It was like I was looking at a picture, but my eyes were closed. Interestingly enough, the smell and taste of the air changed as well. It smelled and tasted like I was near a beach. I have only been able to emulate the situation a few times, but the experience was one of the most profound of my life.

Body awareness meditation is pretty much a guaranteed way to throw Me into a panic attack.

What part of your body triggers this? Do any parts of your body do the opposite?

St. Francis of Assisi is my namesake, actually.

Daily exercise and daily sex helped me more than ANY of the so called antidepressants.
That's the thing with depression. Antidepressants are described as some kind of magical ladder out of the hole, but in reality it's more of a rope that stops you from falling any lower. You still have to climb out on your own. What depression is is practically a lack of feel-good hormones in our brain. Both exercise and sex increase these, so they help for most people. Others have naturally harder to take in and retain these and they're the best group for medical treatment.

For women, the sex part might be harder to manage in regards to depression, as oxytocin has a major depressive kickback as it wears off. (I cite post-partum depression as the obvious example.)

Wholeheartedly agree. In Buddhism, we have a practice called mindfulness immersed in the body. I can link to a sutta about it if anyone is interested.
