Don't you hate it when you go to look up a word and you have to look up like 3 other words just to find the definition of the first word. I also hate it when they have the word you're looking up in the definition, like that's really helpful.

Yep and then trying to find a word that sounds better than the ones you see in the dictionary or thesaurus.

I have trouble with the pragmatics of language so I get up everyday testing my memorization of the same/similar words that mean different things.

It's good that you test yourself like that. I've been trying to expand my vocabulary. Ever since I met my fiance I've been able to actually use my vocabulary because he's super smart and I don't have to dumb down my words.

I also hate it when someone asks you what a word means and you know what it means but you don't know the actual definition and you can't explain what the word means.

Does anyone else find themselves looking up a word in a dictionary and then spend time reading the rest of the page just out of interest?

Maybe it's just me.

I have too much time to spare.

I looked up agnostic once and ended up reading through all the A's once. Didn't remember a thing though. LOL

My favorite is looking up the same word in different dictionaries. They usually have several different definitions. I always expect them to be exactly the same.

exact 1. correct 2. precise 3. this and no other 4. strict 5. functioning accurately @microsoft encarta.

exact 1. precise 2. correct 3.completely accurate A Students Dictionary & Gazetteer 17th edition

exact 1. without mistake 2. demand and get Scott Foresman Intermediate Dictionary
