Difficult to Admit Being Wrong.

DallasApple

Depends Upon My Mood..
Why is it people have such this big issue with admitting they are wrong?..Or even considering it.

Do few poeple realize the liberation of realizing they may not be right because they think the only building blocks of life is getting 100 on every test?

Why is being wrong shameful?

I can see if its habitual..or intentional..

And I dont want to get into whos standards are wrong..and yada yada..

If you are beng an *** why cant you admit it?

because honer and respect still matters for most men,
honer: mean that if you claim you can parashute jump (while you can't) your still going out the plane
respect: is even though your friend claims 2+2=5 you still stand by him out of respect

I find it hard sometimes and not others. I mean, if I'm factually incorrect about something I appreciate that being pointed out, and I'm happy to say "whoops". I find it a little embarrassing though, which is why I spend a lot of time checking the facts before I post to make sure I'm right. When it comes to opinions though, I can't admit that I'm wrong (so its a good thing I never am!) If it's something I've done that's hurt someone, I can usually muster up the character to apologize, but I do find it difficult - I guess it must be pride, but it also seems to be inherited. My dad NEVER apologizes or admits that he's wrong about anything. I'm a little better at it than him, but only because I can see how ridiculous it is by observing him in action, so I try always to improve.

I dont think its embarrasing.Because nobody knows everything so we are bound to be wrong sometimes.

Why not take that as a learning experience?

It's not difficult depending on the culture you've been raised in/your training. Due to certain training I have received, I find it relatively easy to admit that I was wrong in something. It helps to not think you'll always do everything right in the first place, not only to know that, but to constantly tell yourself that.

It also gets easier with practice. After the first few times it's easy because you realize it's not that big a deal.

I agree..but even if you were raised around those who can never be wrong..You can break out of that..

Being wrong is part of life. If you can't accept being wrong you'll get nowhere in life because its knowing you're wrong, evaluating your mistakes, and learning from them that ultimately builds a person.

No one person knows everything, we have to recognise that there will always be room for improvement in some aspects of our lives.

I am wrong all the time, and I'm okay with it. :D Sometimes I don't admit to being wrong because I hate the person I was arguing/discussing with, and don't want to admit they are right. It's not so bad that I was wrong; I just don't want them to have the satisfaction of being right, you see?

Also sometimes I just like to mess with people so I make up something and know I'm wrong from the beginning of the discussion and just want to see how long they'll play along before getting ****** off and leaving. :D

Yeh, I'm the same as you mate, and I would never admit my error to some Dull-head to whom I'd never give the satisfaction of knowing it was right and I was wrong. Although I will always admit my errors, of which there are many and will be many more, to myself; it is from my mistakes in life that I have become who I am. And you will never find me, who is the mind/spirit that is developing in this body of universal elements that is animated by the divine principle that pervades everything that exists, tomorrow, where I am today.

Today I became the man I am
The one that I was yesterday is gone
The one I'll be tomorrow, I will be
Cos today I found "I Am Who I Am"

Nah, I'm not who I was, nor who I will be
For "Who I Am" is the name that my God gave to me.

As I allow myself to be wrong, I learn something new almost every day. Yesterday’s truths, facts and beliefs continually evolve, are changed, and replaced by even more transient concepts. I am no longer driven to be right and have no need to prove others wrong; no need to convert, to turn them away from their truths and beliefs.
There is great freedom in that; freedom to respect the knowledge and the beliefs of others. I am free to change without expecting that others change. And, I have no fear of being wrong again tomorrow.

I would have to agree with both Father Heathen, and Pi on this one. Because if you think you can do something and you really can't however you have told yourself multiple lies eventually those lies become truth. However in my case I have no problem in admitting defeat to accusations that people prejudge me by what I wear and not getting to know me. So I admit defeat and prentend to be as they want me to be. and why not manipulate their minds in making their believes come true. Because either i tell them that I am or i am not a certain thing they are still going to believe how they want to.
