What are your thoughts on this?
I'm doing racist stuff because I'm not a dumb cracker and like art made by black peoole enough to occasionally use it to reflect my thoughts?

Thanks although I'm still not 100% sure what people mean when they use woke
Properly it just means your aware of injustices, inequalities and other systemic abuses faced by minorities.
Misused and hijacked it means hypocritical double standards, believing all white people are racist and treating black people like they incapable and incompetent.

The same as of any other woke bs: it's complete and utter garbage and adds a whole new level to racial intolerance.
They try so hard to not be racist / intolerant that the end result is actually a type of racism / intolerance.

I don't discriminate on skin color. I use whatever meme-face of whatever color that gets the point across best.

All this woke stuff.... It's so ridiculous.

They have a point.

I've definitely seen memes that rely on racist stereotypes for their humour.

I don't think there is anything wrong with stereotypes in such context at all.

The problem only comes about when it is systematically used for propaganda purposes and / or conditioning through repeated use, instead of a mere innocent joke
There's nothing wrong with some innocent jokes using stereotypes like the English have bad teeth, the Belgians are pedophiles, columbians are cartel members and americans are trigger happy cowboys.

There's a time and place for everything. And context matters also.

The problem is, again, when it becomes systematic. And ironically, what the link advocates is to systematically be judgemental about any and all uses that could perhaps, maybe, by some, who knows be seen as inappropriate.

You could also just tell those people to grow some thicker skin instead.

*You* don't.

If we care about our impact on others, then we'll consider others' opinion, not just our own.

How many uses does it take to be "systematic"? How many repetitions does it take to be "repeated"?

You could also just tell those people to grow some thicker skin instead.
The same thing could be said to those clutching their pearls at the thought that they might be seen as racist for the memes they use.

Personally, I see a problem with using stereotypes as the basis of humour. My problem with the article in the OP is that it seems to assume that any funny meme with a black person in it is using stereotypes, which I don't think is the case.

Sorry but I can't be expected to keep track of everyone's opinion.
You could perhaps also say "if we care about our personal freedoms, then we'll need to consider that other people have personal freedoms to..."

I think it's fairly self evident when it occurs, especially when we also consider context.

These things are not black and white. And the link in the OP is trying to turn it black and white.

And as I type that, I picture the woke police entering this thread and telling me that it's "racist" to say "black and white".

The same thing could be said to those clutching their pearls at the thought that they might be seen as racist for the memes they use.

"might be seen as" vs "are".

I think it's an important difference.
These things need a clear line and I can't be bothered to tailor to everyone's personal sensitivities.

Especially these days, I feel like I need to constantly walk on egg shells because uh-oh, someone might be offended by whatever.

Be offended by real things. Like not being allowed to sit on certain benches because of your skin color.

Right: you'll only keep track of the opinions of those you care about, so we'll be able to infer who you care about or not from whose opinions you consider or not.

You could perhaps also say "if we care about our personal freedoms, then we'll need to consider that other people have personal freedoms to..."
Personal freedom isn't at issue here.

Nobody's proposing to lock people up for behaving like jerks. They're only proposing to call out jerkish behaviour.

I think it's fairly self evident when it occurs, especially when we also consider context.
If it's self-evident, you should be able to answer.

These things are not black and white. And the link in the OP is trying to turn it black and white.
I'd say it's you that's trying to make things black and white. I mean, I'm arguing that we should apply some thought and recognize that some memes use stereotypes in harmful ways and you're coming back with stuff about how there's no problem at all unless it's "systemic" (and you so far refuse to explain what you mean by this).

And as I type that, I picture the woke police entering this thread and telling me that it's "racist" to say "black and white".
And because one person drew the line at an unreasonable place, we can conclude that there's no reasonable place to draw the line?

"might be seen as" vs "are".
Several of the "stereotypes" you listed are racist.

I think it's an important difference.
These things need a clear line and I can't be bothered to tailor to everyone's personal sensitivities.
Why would you care about the opinions of people you can't be bothered to consider?

Especially these days, I feel like I need to constantly walk on egg shells because uh-oh, someone might be offended by whatever.
So you're afraid of people expressing their opinions? A minute ago, you were all about personal freedom.

Be offended by real things. Like not being allowed to sit on certain benches because of your skin color.
"I can see people who are worse than me, so there's no need for me to improve"?
