DNA can tell you whether someone is male or female

Concerning the OP, should we go with science or what we think?

Now before you answer that think about it... If people can go with what they think, then a god is as real as anything else to billions because they believe it, feel it, some say they have experienced it, talked to it, etc.. So it should be accepted as correct right?

Huh? Is the purpose of the thread title clickbait leading into yet another religious thread. It seems so since this is a general debate thread not a science one. Or is an indirect reference to those who try to make simplistic definitions but get it all wrong?

Is what we think, feel or believe correct..

If so then everyone is correct.

You missed the point of the OP.

We are starting to base more things on "how we feel" than "science"

If Bob feels he is a female and feels he should participate as a female we should accept it and support him regardless of what dna/science shows
BUT...
If Bill feels a god is real and feels a god created all we know, we should dismiss it as belief and he's crazy because science shows natural explanations and evolution.

Science differentiates chromosomal sex from gonadal sex from gender identity and gender expression. Discounting what's between one's ears in favor of what DNA says isn't doing science a favor, just over-simplifying a nuanced conversation.

"between one's ears"

How is feeling/believing in a god any different?
Isnt it about what people feel?

The same way as phantom limb syndrome isn't the same as feeling you have a soul.

Exactly! Its all in the mind, not reality.

I am missing several fingers(lost them.in my 30's), never had phantom pain or itching because I know in reality they aren't there to hurt or itch. .

Really?

So Bob can believe/feel he's a woman and its ok but Bill believes in a god/feels a god is real and he's crazy?
Sounds like you already think Bob is crazy even though there's a ton of study about why people get gender dysphoria, and how gender identity works psychologically and sociologically. That it's not just a matter of 'feeling something.'

Whether gods exist or not, I don't know amd I don't tell people. But there isn't extensive evidence of one like there is gender identity and gender expression independent of the reductive 'feelings' you're trying to parse it as.

Sounds like you never had phantom limb pain because you never had phantom limb syndrome. There not being really a limb doesn't change that a very real disconnect between the body and brain can cause very real endorphin responses, pain and sensation. Not every amputee gets it but those that do have a very real condition.

I didn't say Bob is crazy.

Phantom pain is in the brain, its mental.

Literally all pain is mental, and in the brain.

If Bobs mother passed last year but he swears he can still periodically feel her touch his hand and rub his hair, is that as real as Joe feeling his missing fingers itch,,, or is it mental?

Is it something we want to feel so we think we feel it.

You seem to be perpetuating this bright line between 'real' and 'mental' that doesn't exist. The feeling can be real even if it's not from the source you think. And discrediting feelings because you don't think they are real or matter just sort of highlights why this country is so ****ed up in its healthcare.

Do you want to know how they treat phantom limb pain? It absolutely isn't to say 'your pain isn't real' as that's neither true nor helpful. They treat it by things like mirror technique and prosthetic fitting because lining up your brain's expectation of your body eases pain from disconnect.
The limb that you substitute isn't flesh and blood but it's still helping your brain and your very real pain.
