True, but times running out.Everything changes.
I go by the rule of thumb that unless we have direct proof that someone is lying, we need to believe what they say about their beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. It is really quite ridiculous to assume that we can read their minds, and deeply insulting as well. Once you start down the path of "You may SAY you think this, but this other thing is what you REALLY think," you have set the stage for all sorts of abuse.Rightly so, Christianity is too big so they will never tell you what they really think.
Says who? I have no reason to suspect that the universe is ending.True, but times running out.
I’m sure some of them really believe what they say. I don’t deny that.I go by the rule of thumb that unless we have direct proof that someone is lying, we need to believe what they say about their beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. You may not, but I do.Says who? I have no reason to suspect that the universe is ending.
Abuse? No. I haven’t singled anyone out.I go by the rule of thumb that unless we have direct proof that someone is lying, we need to believe what they say about their beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. Again, unless you have direct evidence that they are lying, assume they are telling the truth.I’m sure some of them really believe what they say. I don’t deny that.
Yes, just like Chicken Little. You may not, but I do.
Do you imagine you can't abuse an entire group?Abuse? No. I haven’t singled anyone out.
I have freedom to think what I want about a group of people just like I think there’s thousands of people right now cheating on their spouse. Am I abusing them too? I have no evidence.Do you imagine you can't abuse an entire group?
Judging an external behavior doesn't require you to read anyone's mind. The problem here is that you are assuming you know better what a person thinks inside their own head than they themselves. That's what makes it abusive.I have freedom to think what I want about a group of people just like I think there’s thousands of people right now cheating on their spouse. Am I abusing them too? I don’t visibly see anyone cheating. The only thing I’m assuming is they’re withholding the truth.Judging an external behavior doesn't require you to read anyone's mind. The problem here is that you are assuming you know better what a person thinks inside their own head than they themselves. That's what makes it abusive.
The ones withholding the truth will think I’m perceptive and the ones who aren’t will think I have trust issues. No harm, no foul. Your idea that I’m abusing 2 billion Christians is unwarranted.Judging an external behavior doesn't require you to read anyone's mind. And your idea that you aren't is quite sad.The ones withholding the truth will think I’m perceptive and the ones who aren’t will think I have trust issues. No harm, no foul. Your idea that I’m abusing 2 billion Christians is unwarranted.
Not as sad as the war in the Middle East. And your idea that you aren't is quite sad.
This is called deflection. When someone is caught in the wrong, they say, "But look what so and so is doing."Not as sad as the war in the Middle East.
You’re entitled to think what I think is sad. This is called deflection. When someone is caught in the wrong, they say, "But look what so and so is doing."
I'm not interested in what you think. Only in what you do.You’re entitled to think what I think is sad.
Other people might be interested in what I think and do.I'm not interested in what you think. Only in what you do.
Listen, this is not a productive conversation. I've spent far more time on it than what it deserves. If you want to reply, that's up to you. But I'm done, and won't be replying.
