Do Drugs Bring you Closer to God?

So I know this is a old post , however I'm working to get closer to God. I'm a smoker, Pot ...
Yes , I feel so close to him when I'm high. Closer to him then I feel when I'm not .... And I believe that is a lesson I've come to learn...

So If being high on THC does slow us down and put us in altered state of mind , maybe it's the spirit or our soul that can really make that connection during that time...
This is my opinion on the situation .... I don't think our spirit ever changes , I know we are all more godly then we know.... I think the truth lays within training our bodies that are of the flesh to have that relationship with him without being in a altered state.

I'm not saying it's bad , but if I'm of clear mind then I'm not so worried about allowing the devil the chance to lead me wrong...

it's only when the flesh and our spirit both grow with the lord in sync....

........... And the confusion I have after being high and receiving messages( or what I think are messages from him ...... it's not worth it ...

I will work on building my relationship with him in this sinful body I have ... because my body and spirit are not on the same page....

I hope that this may help someone else who needs some light shed on the matter. To build a relationship with God , we have to do work ..... last time I looked , smoking was not work...

I still see no reason why drugs cannot help you reach a higher spiritual plane and become closer to God - who is to say it doesn't..

Well there is no spiritual plane, it does not exist.

So nothing can help you including drugs to get to a nonexistent place.

Two points:

- Not all "drugs" are equal. In virtually every respect you can think of, psychedelics have much better MOs (and useful potentials), than most other classes of drugs.

- Traditionally, and for thousands of years, psychedelics have been used with great thoughtfulness, preparation, and intention. And not habitually. The consensus is that they can give you a glimpse of a good spiritual direction to head towards, but you gotta go do the work yourself to get there. Psychedelics are not addictive, and in fact lose most of their efficacy if used often. You only get so many trips.

The consensus was loaded, and has no credible say here.

Useful roughly in terms of the OP - to open up a brief glimpse into more spiritually aligned, happy, productive life.

Yes, psychoactive drugs are very useful spiritually. They have been used by shamans and priests for thousands of years. I think they are gifts from God to us, to expand our consciousness. They must be treated with reverence and used very responsibly.

Sorry, that is not the best path. Nor really useful. It is along the lines of mental masturbation with the possible negative side effects, and possible mental illness.

Often produces long haired useless hippies that can be found at what used to be dead concerts.

So what do you think? Is this a spiritual cognition or purely a physical chemical reaction?

I'll go with both. Some chemicals can cause confusion in the brain. Some chemicals effect the brain so that the soul's usual tight connection with the body is loosened and the user can experience more of reality.

So Bob Marley was quoted to say:

Many spiritual leaders have been known to use LSD to bring themselves closer to god.

Many Priests drink wine to further there communion with God.

Have a read at this article:

From the ancient Greeks and Romans, to the tribe of North America, the Egyptians, and the Maya, religious sacraments have included euphorics and hallucinogens. These are called "entheogens" ("God inside us," en εν- "in, within," theo θεος- "god, divine," -gen γενος "creates, generates").

Entheogens have been used in a ritualized context for thousands of years; their religious significance is well established in anthropological and modern evidences. Examples of traditional entheogens include: kykeon, ambrosia, iboga, soma, peyote, bufotenine, and ayahuasca. Other traditional entheogens include cannabis, ethanol, ergine, psilocybe mushrooms, and opium, to name only a few.

So what do you think? Is this a spiritual cognition or purely a physical chemical reaction?

I believe LSD has the ability to open the spiritual portal in the brain and make it more likely a person can hear the voices of spirits. Unfortunately hearing voices is most often associated with mental ilness.

Can you state this is something that exist outside a delusional imagination?

I beleive no-one is ever able to tell when he is deluded because the delusion has already deceived the mind. Other people like to think they can tell but for that one must know what is true.

For instance the person who thought I was broadcasting thoughts into his head was delusional because I knew it to be true that I was not doing so. However I do believe thoughts are detectable by some people even though I wasn't broadcasting.

Well there is no spiritual plane, it does not exist.

So nothing can help you including drugs to get to a nonexistent place.

The problem is that you can't prove the null hypothesis unless you can prove that it would be necessary for a spiritual plane not to exist.

Since there is a great deal of evidence saying that there is a spiritual plane, that works against your teory that it doesn't.
