He who knows does not speak.
He who speaks does not know.
Sorta reminds me of someone that I knew years ago who was very rich but often dressed very casually. Someone asked her why she dressed as such instead of dressing up more, and her response was that those who have it really don't have to flaunt it.From what I've noticed, the individuals going around spouting how they are "intellectuals," couldn't be more wrong about themselves.
- Lao-Tzu - The Way of Lao-Tzu
Who on Earth would be so socially clumsy to actually refer to oneself as an "intellectual"?
It reminds me of Martin Prince quote on The Simpsons......
"Pick me teacher! I'm ever so smart!"
One just sets oneself up to fail to meet lofty standards.
Tis better to aim low, & succeed at picking the low hanging fruit.
The goal is not modesty. If your only agenda is modesty. Modesty is, of course, valued in intellectual circles. I don't think aiming low is a great general philosophy to have, however.
The goal is not modesty.
It's avoiding ridicule, derision, criticism, embarrassment, & the pointing at me while laughing at me privates.
Modesty is just a tactic.
Goodness!
You have one cheerful avatar there, bub!

Well, I did attend a large public school.Shouldn't one avoid ridicule, derision, criticism, embarrassment, etc. by ensuring they're well educated about that which they speak on? It's possible that, just by tackling particular topics, you will encounter criticism and ridicule (Sam Harris and Hitch' come to mind immediately).
Creepy is good too.Cheerful, perhaps. I find it more creepy than anything. :')

It has sort of a 1950s advertising feel.....with a pinch of evil & a skosh of perversion. When you've seen some of the artist's other works, you may understand better where I'm coming from.
