Do you live for your glory or God's glory

Wow! This is a very thought-provoking question, @whirlingmerc! As for me, I live for the glory of God. Interestingly, the Founder of my Faith, Bahá’u’lláh, His title means “Glory of God” in Arabic. Thank you for the question! Peace and Blessings!

Sure, you can understand it that way if you like.
So, as I posted earlier . . .
Gods expect perfection of their creations.
Your god dictates your behavior, holding you to a specific set of standards but, as we know, no one is without sin.

Gods expect perfection. They expect us to follow their rules to the letter, which they know is impossible.

I think the objective is humiliation and hopelessness. Gods are not benevolent.

Since I can't hope to be without sin I do the best I can with what I have. I know I will never be good enough to please a god, so why bother living for one?

Life is hard enough without assigning myself the Herculean task of pleasing a nebulous entity.

Sure, my God has certain standards they expect of me. But the standards are not unreasonable ones. And when I fail to meet a certain standard (i.e. sin), it is for me to learn from my mistake, that I may better serve my God.

My God certainly doesn't expect perfection. Nor do They expect me to follow particular rules to the letter. My God only wants me to serve Them in the Battle against Satan, for that is why I was created.

I ain't no slave! A servant, yes. But not a slave. Satan seeks enslavement. My God seeks to set us all free from Satan's enslavement.
And how will that happen? Do you not recognize your own ball and chain? You are tethered and you don't even recognize it for what it is.

By serving God and fighting against Satan, our souls are set free from the energetic-material bonds that bind them. Attachment to the 'material' world is the ball and chain, the iron collar around just about everyone's necks.

everyone is 'a slave' to something... but God also calls the redeemed to be his sons and daughters and much more
but in the end it's not about us... it's about Him
